Game 88, Gainst the Twins, going for the season series sweep..

The second inning starts off with a walk to Rodriguez. After he steals second, Posada is hit by a pitch and Cano reaches on an error. Ransom walks to score 1, Garder grounds out to score another, and Jeter singles to score a third. The Twins get 2 back with a home run, walk and an error. 3-2. In the forth the Yankees get 2 more with a single by Posada, a double by Cano, a Ransom RBI single, and a Garnder RBI single. The Twins also get 2 runs with a double, single and to many walks. 5-4. Teixeira homers in the sixth to make it 6-4. Final.

Aceves doesn't have the perfect game, doesn't even get the w, but keeps the game from getting out of hand. He allows 4 runs on 4 hits with 1 walk and 2 strike outs in 3.1 innings.

All the Yankee starters had a hit today except Swisher. Teixeira had a HR, Cano had a double, Cabrera had a double, the rest singles, and RBI singles.

From a 4 game series, 3 walk off wins, to a 3 game series where the Yankees have never lost the lead, the Yankees have played the Twins perfectly this season. Well, the Yankees have let the runs scores, have made their errors, but the record shows perfection. 7-0.

Game 87, Gainst the Twins...continuing..

Burnett starts tonight. He comes in with 99 season strike outs, hopin to get 100 and more.

In the second inning, Matsui singles, Posada singles, and Cano singled to load the bases. Swisher grounded out to score Matsui, but then Gardner does the real damage, hitting a single to score the Posada and Cano left on base. 3-0. The Twins get 2 of those back in the bottom of the forth, two out single, walk, two wild pitches and a double. 3-2. In the fifth Rodriguez hits a single to score Jeter from second. 4-2. In the bottom of the inning, Burnett gets his 100th strike out of the season. After taking Burnett out after 6.1 innings, Coke lets a HR go. 4-3.

Rivera was brought in for the 4 out save. After a line out to Jeter in the eighth, he gets his 22nd save after a ground out, strike out, and another line out to Jeter. Sweet.

Burnett gets the W by pitching 6.1 innings, gave up 2 earned runs off of 7 hits with 4 walks and 2 strike outs. Not a very strong outing for him. He got the first two outs of the innings, some with no problems. But he let on 7 runners after 2 outs, that shouldn't happen. 2 of those were his earned runs against.

Jeter went 2-5, scoring a run. Posada went 2-3 scoring a run. Gardner went 1-4 with a 2 run single. Sweet, slow low scoring game, but a win none-the-less.

Game 86, Gainst the Twins, Lets keep it going...

The Yankees get it started right with 1 run scored in the first and 2 in the second. Jeter singles to start of the game, Teixeira moves him to third with a single and Matsui hits him home with a single as well. In the second, Cano doubled to start off the second inning, Gardner singles right after him, moves Cano to third, and a sacrifice fly by Cervelli scores Cano. Then a single by Damon moves Gardner to third and a single by Teixeira scores Gardner. A home run in the bottom of the inning by Michael Cuddyer gets 1 for the Twins. 3-1.

Cervelli singled to start off the forth, Jeter walks right behind him, Damon walks behind him, Rodriguez scores Cervelli from third on a sacrifice fly (over the fence sac fly, should have been grand slam sac fly), Matsui walks to load the bases again, and Swisher walks, with two out to score an RBI. 5-1.

Big inning in the sixth. Teixeira singles, Rodriguez walks, Swisher walks with two out. Two out, bases loaded, same situation as the forth. Anyways, Cano singles, scores Teixeira and Rodriguez, moves Swisher to third. Garnder triples to score Swisher and Cano. Cervelli doubles to score Gardner. Wow, why can't we have hits like that all the time with 2 outs? 5 runs score with two outs in the inning, 8 out of 10 so far. 10-1 after six. After taking Sabathia out in the eighth, Brett Tomko gives up a run in the inning, just 1. 10-2 Final.

Sabathia pitched 7 innings, gave up 1 earned run off of 3 hits with 1 walk and 3 strike outs. It seemed he didn't have the right pitch to get batters out at home, but get them out in the field. With only 3 strike outs, the team backed him up with 8 ground outs and 10 fly outs.

Teixeira went 4-6 with 4 singles with 1 run and 1 RBI. Cano went 2-5 with a double, 2 runs, and 2 RBIs. Gardner went 3-5 with a triple, 2 runs, and 2 RBIs. Cervelli, for Posada, went 2-4 with a double, 1 run, and 2 RBIs.

Roy Halladay for sale? Yankees, Get him before the Red Sox do!!!! Come on, Pettitte's gonna retire soon, Wang may need more help, Joba isn't putting up the right numbers...

Burnett pitches tomorrow, 8:10 at the Metrodome. Interesting note, Alfredo Aceves will pitch for Wang on Thursday. Interesting, lets see how that goes...

Game 85, Gainst the Jays, interesting first inning...

Pettitte starts tonight. Also, Eric Hinski is to start today. Lets see how the guy plays in the Yankee setting.

Like I said the first inning was very peculiar. Pettitte takes care of the Jays, one, two, three, pitching only 6 in the first. The bottom is when it happens. Derek Jeter walks to start off the Yankee's side of the inning. He gets second on a balk, then is "caught" stealing third. The throw beats him by a couple feet, sure, but there's a problem..The gloved hand of Scott Rolen never touches Jeter till he is bending up to get up. Jeter was thrown out at third because "the ball beat him." That is the reason the third base ump, Marty Foster. Jeter was sliding into third, saw the throw had beat him and the tag was coming for his left hand, so he pulled his left hand back to avoid the tag and slide his right hand in to touch the base. The replay shows a great display of base running and avoidance, but the ump wasn't giving in.

After the call Jeter immediately got up and went to the ump to argue the call. Girardi came out and, while Jeter was calming down, got the explaination from Jeter about what Foster had said and that Jeter was never tagged. Girardi went to Foster for an explaination about being thrown out at a base soley on the reason that the throw beat the runner. Girardi didn't get an explaination at all, just got tossed out of the game. After the game "Girardi referred to 'baserunning errors' in the first inning as letting Romero off the hook early." Sweet.

Anyways, Pettitte gets the loss, the Yankees get a tough loss as well, almost coming back in the end, but coming up short 7-6. 5 of the Yankees runs were scored during and after the seventh inning.

Although this was a tough loss it did have some nice notes in it. It was Hinske's first game in a Yankee uniform and he did not disipoint, going 2-4 with a HR. He was the last out, however, with a strike out. But whatever, the game was cursed from the first inning.

The first inning mishap in this game is one of the many examples baseball onlookers are seeing as a reason to get the ump calls checked by replays. The umps already check home run calls, Yankee fans know that more than anyone, having the most home runniest park and the first replay was called in New Yankee Stadium.

Game 84, Game 3 of 4 gainst the Jays, and what a game it was.

Back and forth, Yankees come out on top of this high early scoring game.

In the first inning the Yankees get 2 runs after 2 singles and a walk loads the bases. Matsui gets on by an error and scores Jeter and Swisher scores Posada. In the second the Yankees get 2 more after loading the bases with 2 walks and a single. Posada singles to score Ransom and Jeter. 0-4.

Yikes after the Jays have a 3 run and a 5 run inning, Joba gets taken out. He was beat up today. Anyways the Yankees have two 3 run innings in a row. Teixeira walked and Posada singled in the forth and were hit home with a Matsui home run. In the fifth Jeter homers with Cabrera on base and Posada doubled Damon in. 8-10 Final. Great game.

Chamberlain pitched 3.2 innings, gave up 8 runs on 9 hits with 1 walk and 1 strike out. Wonder why he didn't get the win. Only 3 of the runs we're earned runs. Anyways, Alredo Aceves is the real hero of the game, pitching 4 innings, gave up only 1 hit with 5 strike outs.

Jeter went 4-5 scoring 3 runs with 2 RBIs and a HR. Posada went 4-5 scoring 2 runs with 3 RBIs. Matsui went 2-4 with scoring 1 run with 4 RBIs and a HR.

Game 83, Game 2 Gainst the Blue Jays, at Home

Happy Lou Gehrig Appreciation Day!

Wang pitches tonight. Great start last start! Keep it going please...

In the first the Yankees score 1 off a Rodriguez single to score a walked and advanced Damon. In the second, after a walk, a ground rule double, and a 2 run single, the Blue Jays take the lead, 2-1. But the Yankees quickly tie with a Matsui home run. 2-2. In the forth the Yankees get ahead with a Home run by Posada. 2-3.

After a Jay double, homer, 2 walks and a 1 run single the score reads 5-3. But the Yankees keep pace with a single by Jeter and a home run by Damon to tie it back up at 5. The next run doesn't come in for either team until the twelth inning, when Posada comes up with 2 on, 1 out. He hits a single to score Rodriguez, who was intentionally walked, from second. 5-6 Final.

Wang pitched 5.1 innings, gave up 4 runs off of 5 hits with 1 walk and 1 strike out. Teixeira went 3-6 with 2 singles and a double, but was not involved in any of the runs scored. Rodriguez went 2-3 with 3 walks, scored a run with an RBI. Posada went 2-6 with a HR and the game winning RBI.

With the Red Sox loss today, 3-2 against the Mariners, the Yankees move to just 1 behind.
