Its a slow start for both teams today, both having only scored 1 run before the sixth. The Indians scored first in the forth off a Shoppach double. The Yankees scored in the fifth off a Posada home run.
Sabathia pitched an all right 5.2 innings. He allowed 1 earned run on 5 hits with 4 strike outs and 5 walks. 5 walks? Come on Sabathia, lets get those walks down now, you're a Yankee in Yankee Stadium, no more of this Indians and Brewers stuff. Lets get the strike outs. Edwar Ramirez was put in in the sixth with two already out and loads the bases. Phil Coke is brought in to cool things down and get the third out. Veras was put in in the seventh and gave a walk on 4 pitches to start off then a double to move the runners to second and third.
Veras allows 2 runs with 0 strike outs and 1 walk. Good work. Marte is put in who loads the bases again, still no outs in the seventh. 1 run is let in by him. Marte walks in a run. 4-1. Gary Sizemore hits a grand slam. Wow bullpen looking good tonight. Then a home run by Martinez. Bullpen looking GREAT!!
Cano singles in the seventh to score Cabrera and show that the Yankees still have life. David Robertson comes in in the top of the eighth and strikes out 2 with a ground out. Why couldn't the rest of the bullpen do that just an inning ago? Come on now, pathetic.
Teixeira was taken out, replaced by Cabrera at 4th in the line up, and played in right field while Swisher went to 1st base. After going 0-2 with a strike out it is easy to see why. Maybe that wrist is still bothering him..?
Well I for one can not wait for Rodriguez to get back. After watching Ransom go 0-6 with 2 strike outs tonight, leaving 9 on base, it only reminded me that, somehow, this game could be closer, scorewise, than 10-2.
