Game 25, at Home, Gainst the Angels, The Game

CC Sabathia pitches today against the Angels, against Matt Palmer. 4.95 vs 5.68.

Sabathia has a very strong first inning, striking out 2. After Jeter is hit by a pitch and Teixeira is walked, Matsui hits a single to score Jeter. The second inning is not as strong as the first for Sabathia. After a walk he gives up 2 singles but no runs. He got out of the inning with the bases loaded. Sweet.

In the sixth inning, after a Jeter throwing error, 1 Angel run scores to tie up the game. It is unearned, but the damage is done. The Angels score 4 more in the seventh, 1 in the eighth, and 2 in the ninth. The Yankees score 3 in the ninth with a Posada 2 run homer and Jeter reaching on an error. But the damage is to much. The Yankees fall 8-4.

Sabathia had a good start but it all fell apart in the seventh. He let in 4 earned runs off of 8 hiits with 1 walk and 5 strike outs. Trouble with the line up. Only 4 hits, Teixeira 0-4, Damon 0-5, Cano 0-4. Oh jeepers. Posada's the only Yankee who looked good with a 2 run homer in the ninth, his only hit. Get it together for tomorrow and Monday and Tuesday against the Rer Sox.

CC, A-Rod, and Swisher stuff

CC pitches tonight against the Angels. He comes in tonight with a 1-2 record and a 4.73 ERA. "I need to make them put it in play, make them earn it, instead of giving it to them," Sabathia said. "It's a lot easier to live with it when you get beat, and they were hitting the balls and having good at-bats, as opposed to putting them on and struggling. I'm just trying to be too fine and make the perfect pitch." Well I don't know about you but that seems pretty accurate to what he has been doing. CC has always had the right attitude, he just needs his right pitches and to feel comfortable.

Wow didn't know I could do that ^. Well there you have it. Make your own conclusions about his slow starts.

"The search for proper bullpen help continued for Yankees manager Joe Girardi on Friday night, when, lacking any more trustworthy alternatives, he called on rookie Mark Melancon to hold a lead in the sixth inning. One pitch later, the Bombers no longer held a lead."

This was when I was like, "Who is this guy? I don't think bringing in someone new with the bases loaded is such a good idea. (triple) ah crap." Anyways, the article I got this from was saying that the bull pen needs a break and CC is supposed to help tonight. And by help I mean not need to use them.

So A-Rod is feeling better, but he isn't hitting as good as I had hoped. Ya I know he just had surgery, but 1-6 in a game, only hit a home run, and 0-3 in another. Come on, feel the pitches A-Rod. Hope you can help the Yankees out after all.

I was right! They don't give you much information on those MLB.com gameday things but when I saw Swisher got hit and he needed a delay of game, I knew it was trouble. He left before the third inning after getting hit in the elbow in the first inning. The article says he will be back soon.

Game 24, at Home, Gainst the Angels, the game

Pettitte vs Weaver. 2-1 vs 2-1. 2.96 vs 2.45. Sweet, lets have a good game Pettitte.

The Yankees get started early, taking advantage of 2 walks given to Jeter and Damon. Jeter scores on a Matsui fly, Damon scores on Cano single and Cano and Posada score on a Posada home run. 0-4.

The Angels get their damage done in the sixth, scoring six. 5 earned runs for Pettitte and one for Mark Melancon. I do not understand why managers take pitchers out after they load the bases. The first pitch Melancon threw turned out to be a triple.

In the first inning Nick Swisher was hit by a pitch and was taken out of the game in the third.

The Angels score 3 more in the seventh to give them a 9-4 lead. But the Yankees strike back with 4 in the eighth. After a Cano double and Posada walk Gardner singles to load the bases. Then Cabrera singles, scoring 1, Pena singles, scoring 2, and Jeter grounds out, scoreing 1 as well. 9-8.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, 0 out, Posada hits a single on a 3-2 count to score Teixeira and Berroa. YANKEES WIN. How exciting. Great show.

Pettitte had an all right outing. 5.2 innings with 5 earned runs, 4 walks and only 2 strikeouts. Ok so it wasn't the best, not by a long shot, but the line up made it work and came back for a W.

Cano went 3-5 scoring 2 runs with 1 RBI. Posada went 2-4 with 1 walk and 4 RBIs, including the 2 game winning RBIs. Pena went 3-4 with 2 RBIs. Sweet deal. Great job.

Game 23, at Home gainst the Angels, The game

UPDATED 10:30 Bottom of page

Burnett looking for his 3rd win.

The Angels hit in the first run in the first but the Yankees quickly answer back with a Matsui single to drive in Teixeira. The Angels score 2 more in the second. Johnny Damon hits a home run in the third. 3-2. Derek Jeter singles to score Swisher and Pena in the forth. 3-4. Angels tie it up in the fifth.

In the eighth after a single by Cano, a ground rule double by Posada, and an intentional walk to Swisher, Cabrera hits a single to score Cano. With the bases still loaded Pena doubles and scores Posada and Swisher. 4-7.

Rivera came in in the ninth. This is how the game should have been ended last night, instead of bring in Albaladejo. Rivera pitched 14 pitches, 10 for strikes. He had 1 hit and 2 strikeouts.

Burnett started today, not as strong as many of his other starts, but enough to get it done. He allowed 4 runs with 8 hits, strike outs and 1 walk in 7 innings.

Pena went 2-4 with a double and 2 RBIs. Swisher went 1-2 with 2 walks and scored twice. All the Yankees had at least 1 hit.

Next game is tomorrow at 7:05 against the Angels.

UPDATE: Red Sox lost 13-0 in Tampa Bay tonight. The only hit for the Red Sox was Ellsbury in the seventh. In the eighth inning the Red Sox took out Lopes(P) and put in Van Every(RF) to pitch. Sound familiar? Good job Red Sox.

A-Rod Book..and nothing else, the whole A-Rod situation

So there is this book that is coming out soon that claims that Alex took steroids after and before he claims. While the Yankees were down in Tampa I was up in Indiana. It was a Sunday morning, I remember because I was in no hurry to get up. Anyways, I turned on ESPN to listen to them talk about Yankees Stadium or Yankee tickets or whatever they could crop up in the off season because they always have something to talk about that deals with the Yankees. What I saw still haunts me whenever I turn on ESPN. Alex Rodriguez, admits steroid use! What?! He had admitted it while the team was in spring training and, well, I don't really know the exact reason he admitted it.

Well that admittance has really come back to bite him. I mean ya it's great he came out with it, doesn't have to live a lie anymore, can relax a bit without something like that on his chest. But this book that is coming out claims he did use steroids, but he is still lying. Now it could just be the article I read but the writer seems to me like this Selena Roberts is just getting into his life when she shouldn't be. This is kind of why I hate reporters. Sometimes they get ahead of themselves and get into things they shouldn't. I just read an article about how she confronted Alex earlier this year about the initial steroid use.

(This is after she flew from NY to Miami) "In any event, she drove on in, drove by A-Rod’s house, and it didn’t look, from the outside, that anyone was home. No dice. Off to Plan B. She had heard about his morning workout routines at the University of Miami gym. So she went there and identified herself to the guy at the front desk. He told her Mr. Rodriguez was working out in the back."

"A Rod wasn’t cooperating with the book, but he knew her going back to her Times days. She knew he would recognize her immediately. He had just finished lifting some weights, and he was doing some stretching, with a friend and a trainer. The music was loud. How possible would it be to speak to him without anyone overhearing? But when he saw her out of the corner of his eye, he wasn’t happy. Ms. Roberts presented the facts to him. Big story. Several sources. She heard he tested positive for steroids in 2003. Care to comment? “You’ll have to talk to the union,” he said."

Creepy, I mean, I would not want anyone driving to my house, driving around town to find me to confront me about my life. Sorry but seems to me like some people need lives outside of A-Rods life. And here she is, publishing a book, that A-Rods story is still wrong. It doesn't matter if she is wrong and will have to retract it, it's like acquiting a criminal. It doesn't matter that he was found innocent, the damage is down, he was suspected.

In my opinion, he was caught, all right so why lie further. I don't understand because if I was caught I'd like to get it all out so nothing comes back, so this is either her being not cool and just getting her name on things or he messed up. Lets see how it goes, poor A-Rod no matter how it is settled.

Media Sucks.

Game 22, at Detroit, the Game

Joba pitches tonight.

The Tigers get a little lead in the third, but the Yankees get it back, with style. In the forth score 7 with a Swisher 3 run homerun, a Damon RBI double, and a Matsui 3 RBI double. Then in the fifth Swisher gets another homerun as an insurance run, again.

Fire confusion in Detroit tonight. The fire alarm has gone off in the Tigers ballpark in the eighth inning. Wow that was interesting, people started leaving the field and the players started to get off the field.

Well I was surprised with Girardi's decision to have Jonathan Albaladejo stay in after throwing 8 balls and 2 strikes, 1 as a hit for a double. Finally taken out after 3 hits, 2 earned runs and only 24 pitches, 11 for strikes. Wow, Rivera comes in with 1 out remaining. And a three run home run. All right, just one more out, come on.

Anyways, Joba pitched for 7 innings with only 3 hits and allowing 1 run with 3 walks and 6 strike outs. Damon went 2-4 with an RBI and as a run, Matsui went 1-2 but made it count with a 3 RBI double. Swisher went 2-5, both hits as home runs with 4 RBIs. Boy did they need them, Tigers almost caught back up. Interesting.

Next game tomorrow at home against the LA Angels. Burnett goes for another win at home at 7:05.

Game 22, at Detroit, Joba goes for first decided, NY trip soon?

Joba Chamberlain takes on Rick Porcello. An undecided to a 1-2. After the Yankees most powerful inning of the season, Joba takes over for game 3 of this 1-1 series. Lets go Joba get a decided game, and by decided game I mean Win. Game starts at 7:05 tonight, ESPN.

Wow, taking a look at the new ticket plans for New Yankee Stadium, I might head out to NY this year. Many prices cut, season ticket holder getting twice as many seats. No joke the economy is effecting everyone and everything. Many tickets were cut down 40%. The only reason why they are talking about this on ESPN is, come on, they're the Yankees. Anyone else and chances are it'd be lost in that teams news archives. Oh well, everyone's got to have their piece of the best I guess.

Hughes, so Hughes might take Joba's starter spot and move Joba back to the eighth inning reliever spot. Fine with me, I'm predicting Joba will be the closer after Rivera.

In other news, Red Sox snap streak with a Pitching error. Sweet, Jacoby Ellsbury, Red Sox Hero, 1-5 with a strike out. David Ortiz, 1-4, still homerunless.

Game 21, at Detroit, Hughes, Who's Hurt, and Rivera

Phil Hughes came from the minors to help out the Yankees starters tonight, and boy he made it interesting. Real pitchers battle tonight in Detroit with only 4 Yankee hits and 2 Tiger hits in the first six innings.

In the seventh the Yankees break it wide open, with a Posada double error, Swisher and Cabrera score. Then Johnny Damon singles to score Berroa, running for Posada. Then Matsui singles to score Jeter, Cano singles to score Damon, Swisher's second at bat in the inning walks to load the bases up. With a Cabrera walk, Matsui scores. With bases loaded Molina hits a grand slam! 10-0.

And as if it wasn't enough, Swisher homers in the ninth. Insurance run i guess.

Phil Hughes you came out of no where tonight, and boy did the Yankees need it. 6.0 innings, only 2 hits! 2 walks and 6 strike outs.

Swisher, great game! 2-3, 2 walks, home run, Cabrera, also 2-3 also 2 walks, and an RBI. Molina, 1 hit but you made it count, 4 RBIs!

Today I noticed in the Yankees news that pretty much every other headline was that someone was hurt. Damon with "aches", Posada with hamstring issues, Rodriguez and Wang with their hips, yikes, they are getting old. So Damon missed a couple, Posada misses tonight, Rodriguez is still out until mid May, and Wang placed on 15 day DL.

Anyways, Rivera has 486 saves. Wow I had no idea he was so close to 500. Well good for him, I'll be keeping track of that.

Game 20, at Detroit

All right, coming off a bad weekend the week doesn't look much better. With a loss today the Yankees fall back under .500, sweet. They are looking good. 9-10 after their pathetic display today. Not scoring until the ninth with 10 strike outs and many players going 1-4. Sweet, despite the teams drought, Cano went 2-4 with a double today and scored one of the 2 runs. Good for him, he was my favorite player even during his under preformance last year and it's paying off now.

Sabathia had 7 strike outs with only 4 earned runs off of 6 hits and 0 walks. Great pitching, this is one of the games where it wasn't pitching that lost the game. The line up didn't wake up until the top of the ninth and by that time it was too late. Lets hope to win both the next 2 in Detroit and get back over .500. I am getting sick of all these Red Sox fans here. They finally have something to be happy about this season.

Game 19, at Fenway, avoid the sweep

Losing 2 already at Fenway, the Yankees play tonight to avoid the sweep. Having been tied with the Red Sox at 9-6 2 games ago, I would hate to see them be back at .500. Overall the games have been really close, no blowouts. I went through and counted all the Yankee and Red Sox games. The Yankees play six in Fenway and two at home against the Red Sox before the All Star break, then three at Fenway and seven at home after the All Star break. Lets just hope they wake up against the Red Sox after the break.

Yankees score first in the third off a sacrifice fly by Gardner. But the Red Sox get it right back with a sacrifice fly by Ortiz. Red Sox get 3 more in the fifth. 1-4. With the bases loaded in the eight and no out I though Varitek was going to hit another. Whoa boy, Melancon, you got out of a tough situation. But a sweep never looks good. Just wait till your in NY and Rodriguez is back. Back to the best hitting infield.

Teixeira and Swisher went 0-4. Power hitters were shut down tonight, good with 3 strike outs between them. Berroa, Rodriguez's replacement, went 0-3, just as good as Ransom. Mastui, Cano, and Cabrera went 2-4 with 0 RBIs.

Yankees play Detroit Tigers the next 3 game series. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 7:05. All right, lets win some.

In other news, the Rangers get to a 7th game, once leading the series 3-1. Typical.
