Game 88, Gainst the Twins, going for the season series sweep..

The second inning starts off with a walk to Rodriguez. After he steals second, Posada is hit by a pitch and Cano reaches on an error. Ransom walks to score 1, Garder grounds out to score another, and Jeter singles to score a third. The Twins get 2 back with a home run, walk and an error. 3-2. In the forth the Yankees get 2 more with a single by Posada, a double by Cano, a Ransom RBI single, and a Garnder RBI single. The Twins also get 2 runs with a double, single and to many walks. 5-4. Teixeira homers in the sixth to make it 6-4. Final.

Aceves doesn't have the perfect game, doesn't even get the w, but keeps the game from getting out of hand. He allows 4 runs on 4 hits with 1 walk and 2 strike outs in 3.1 innings.

All the Yankee starters had a hit today except Swisher. Teixeira had a HR, Cano had a double, Cabrera had a double, the rest singles, and RBI singles.

From a 4 game series, 3 walk off wins, to a 3 game series where the Yankees have never lost the lead, the Yankees have played the Twins perfectly this season. Well, the Yankees have let the runs scores, have made their errors, but the record shows perfection. 7-0.

Game 87, Gainst the Twins...continuing..

Burnett starts tonight. He comes in with 99 season strike outs, hopin to get 100 and more.

In the second inning, Matsui singles, Posada singles, and Cano singled to load the bases. Swisher grounded out to score Matsui, but then Gardner does the real damage, hitting a single to score the Posada and Cano left on base. 3-0. The Twins get 2 of those back in the bottom of the forth, two out single, walk, two wild pitches and a double. 3-2. In the fifth Rodriguez hits a single to score Jeter from second. 4-2. In the bottom of the inning, Burnett gets his 100th strike out of the season. After taking Burnett out after 6.1 innings, Coke lets a HR go. 4-3.

Rivera was brought in for the 4 out save. After a line out to Jeter in the eighth, he gets his 22nd save after a ground out, strike out, and another line out to Jeter. Sweet.

Burnett gets the W by pitching 6.1 innings, gave up 2 earned runs off of 7 hits with 4 walks and 2 strike outs. Not a very strong outing for him. He got the first two outs of the innings, some with no problems. But he let on 7 runners after 2 outs, that shouldn't happen. 2 of those were his earned runs against.

Jeter went 2-5, scoring a run. Posada went 2-3 scoring a run. Gardner went 1-4 with a 2 run single. Sweet, slow low scoring game, but a win none-the-less.

Game 86, Gainst the Twins, Lets keep it going...

The Yankees get it started right with 1 run scored in the first and 2 in the second. Jeter singles to start of the game, Teixeira moves him to third with a single and Matsui hits him home with a single as well. In the second, Cano doubled to start off the second inning, Gardner singles right after him, moves Cano to third, and a sacrifice fly by Cervelli scores Cano. Then a single by Damon moves Gardner to third and a single by Teixeira scores Gardner. A home run in the bottom of the inning by Michael Cuddyer gets 1 for the Twins. 3-1.

Cervelli singled to start off the forth, Jeter walks right behind him, Damon walks behind him, Rodriguez scores Cervelli from third on a sacrifice fly (over the fence sac fly, should have been grand slam sac fly), Matsui walks to load the bases again, and Swisher walks, with two out to score an RBI. 5-1.

Big inning in the sixth. Teixeira singles, Rodriguez walks, Swisher walks with two out. Two out, bases loaded, same situation as the forth. Anyways, Cano singles, scores Teixeira and Rodriguez, moves Swisher to third. Garnder triples to score Swisher and Cano. Cervelli doubles to score Gardner. Wow, why can't we have hits like that all the time with 2 outs? 5 runs score with two outs in the inning, 8 out of 10 so far. 10-1 after six. After taking Sabathia out in the eighth, Brett Tomko gives up a run in the inning, just 1. 10-2 Final.

Sabathia pitched 7 innings, gave up 1 earned run off of 3 hits with 1 walk and 3 strike outs. It seemed he didn't have the right pitch to get batters out at home, but get them out in the field. With only 3 strike outs, the team backed him up with 8 ground outs and 10 fly outs.

Teixeira went 4-6 with 4 singles with 1 run and 1 RBI. Cano went 2-5 with a double, 2 runs, and 2 RBIs. Gardner went 3-5 with a triple, 2 runs, and 2 RBIs. Cervelli, for Posada, went 2-4 with a double, 1 run, and 2 RBIs.

Roy Halladay for sale? Yankees, Get him before the Red Sox do!!!! Come on, Pettitte's gonna retire soon, Wang may need more help, Joba isn't putting up the right numbers...

Burnett pitches tomorrow, 8:10 at the Metrodome. Interesting note, Alfredo Aceves will pitch for Wang on Thursday. Interesting, lets see how that goes...

Game 85, Gainst the Jays, interesting first inning...

Pettitte starts tonight. Also, Eric Hinski is to start today. Lets see how the guy plays in the Yankee setting.

Like I said the first inning was very peculiar. Pettitte takes care of the Jays, one, two, three, pitching only 6 in the first. The bottom is when it happens. Derek Jeter walks to start off the Yankee's side of the inning. He gets second on a balk, then is "caught" stealing third. The throw beats him by a couple feet, sure, but there's a problem..The gloved hand of Scott Rolen never touches Jeter till he is bending up to get up. Jeter was thrown out at third because "the ball beat him." That is the reason the third base ump, Marty Foster. Jeter was sliding into third, saw the throw had beat him and the tag was coming for his left hand, so he pulled his left hand back to avoid the tag and slide his right hand in to touch the base. The replay shows a great display of base running and avoidance, but the ump wasn't giving in.

After the call Jeter immediately got up and went to the ump to argue the call. Girardi came out and, while Jeter was calming down, got the explaination from Jeter about what Foster had said and that Jeter was never tagged. Girardi went to Foster for an explaination about being thrown out at a base soley on the reason that the throw beat the runner. Girardi didn't get an explaination at all, just got tossed out of the game. After the game "Girardi referred to 'baserunning errors' in the first inning as letting Romero off the hook early." Sweet.

Anyways, Pettitte gets the loss, the Yankees get a tough loss as well, almost coming back in the end, but coming up short 7-6. 5 of the Yankees runs were scored during and after the seventh inning.

Although this was a tough loss it did have some nice notes in it. It was Hinske's first game in a Yankee uniform and he did not disipoint, going 2-4 with a HR. He was the last out, however, with a strike out. But whatever, the game was cursed from the first inning.

The first inning mishap in this game is one of the many examples baseball onlookers are seeing as a reason to get the ump calls checked by replays. The umps already check home run calls, Yankee fans know that more than anyone, having the most home runniest park and the first replay was called in New Yankee Stadium.

Game 84, Game 3 of 4 gainst the Jays, and what a game it was.

Back and forth, Yankees come out on top of this high early scoring game.

In the first inning the Yankees get 2 runs after 2 singles and a walk loads the bases. Matsui gets on by an error and scores Jeter and Swisher scores Posada. In the second the Yankees get 2 more after loading the bases with 2 walks and a single. Posada singles to score Ransom and Jeter. 0-4.

Yikes after the Jays have a 3 run and a 5 run inning, Joba gets taken out. He was beat up today. Anyways the Yankees have two 3 run innings in a row. Teixeira walked and Posada singled in the forth and were hit home with a Matsui home run. In the fifth Jeter homers with Cabrera on base and Posada doubled Damon in. 8-10 Final. Great game.

Chamberlain pitched 3.2 innings, gave up 8 runs on 9 hits with 1 walk and 1 strike out. Wonder why he didn't get the win. Only 3 of the runs we're earned runs. Anyways, Alredo Aceves is the real hero of the game, pitching 4 innings, gave up only 1 hit with 5 strike outs.

Jeter went 4-5 scoring 3 runs with 2 RBIs and a HR. Posada went 4-5 scoring 2 runs with 3 RBIs. Matsui went 2-4 with scoring 1 run with 4 RBIs and a HR.

Game 83, Game 2 Gainst the Blue Jays, at Home

Happy Lou Gehrig Appreciation Day!

Wang pitches tonight. Great start last start! Keep it going please...

In the first the Yankees score 1 off a Rodriguez single to score a walked and advanced Damon. In the second, after a walk, a ground rule double, and a 2 run single, the Blue Jays take the lead, 2-1. But the Yankees quickly tie with a Matsui home run. 2-2. In the forth the Yankees get ahead with a Home run by Posada. 2-3.

After a Jay double, homer, 2 walks and a 1 run single the score reads 5-3. But the Yankees keep pace with a single by Jeter and a home run by Damon to tie it back up at 5. The next run doesn't come in for either team until the twelth inning, when Posada comes up with 2 on, 1 out. He hits a single to score Rodriguez, who was intentionally walked, from second. 5-6 Final.

Wang pitched 5.1 innings, gave up 4 runs off of 5 hits with 1 walk and 1 strike out. Teixeira went 3-6 with 2 singles and a double, but was not involved in any of the runs scored. Rodriguez went 2-3 with 3 walks, scored a run with an RBI. Posada went 2-6 with a HR and the game winning RBI.

With the Red Sox loss today, 3-2 against the Mariners, the Yankees move to just 1 behind.

Friday, July 3, 2009

Game 81 and 82, Seattle over, Toronto begins

The Yankees lost game 81, game three against the Mariners 8-4. Cano went 3-3 with a double and scoring 2 runs.

Sabathia pitched 5.2 innings, gave up 6 runs on 10 hits, with 3 walks and 8 strike outs.

Today the Yankees won 2-4. Cano hit a home run in the second to take the lead. But in the forth the Blue Jays score one after a double and a single. 1-1. In the fifth, Gardner walks, Jeter walks, Damon singles, Teixeira walks to score Gardner, then a pass ball scores Damon. 1-3. A Jay home run in the sixth makes it 2-3. In the eighth Rodriguez hits his 14th home run. final, 2-4.

Burnett pitched 7 innings, gave up 2 runs on 6 hits with 2 walks and 7 strike outs. Rivera gets his 21st save. Jeter went 2-3, Rodriguez went 1-3 with a HR. Cano went 1-4 with a HR.

Wednesday, July 1, 2009

Game 80, Gainst the Mariners, Game 2

Yankees score first with a Damon home run in the third inning. The Mariners quickly follow with a run scored on a force out in the top of the forth. 1-1. In the bottom of the fifth, the Yankees moved ahead again with a Cabrera home run. The Mariners follow close behind again, this time with a Griffey Jr. home run in the top of the sixth. The Yankees finally break free of the break/tie game with a 2 run home run by Rodriguez in the bottom of the sixth. 2-4, final.

5 of the 6 runs were scored on home runs.

Pettitte gets the win, pitching 7 innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strike outs. Rivera gets his 20th save of the season, 502.

Jeter went 1-3, Damon 1-3 HR, Teixeira 2-4 singles, Ridriguez 2-4 HR single, Cano 1-3, Swisher 1-3, Cabrera 1-3 HR.

Game 79, Gainst the Mariners, at home and more...

So the Yankees now have another outfielder. Thats right, Damon, Swisher, Cabrera, and Gardner all competing for 3 spots isn't enough. The Yankees aquire Eric Hinske from the Pirates for right hand pitcher Casey Erickson and outfielder Eric Fryer. So with Nady probably gone because of injury the Yankees find Hinske, who can play all 3 spots.

A lot of talk has been going on about Hughes in the pen. I still think he should be another starter. If any starter should be in the pen it should be Wang. He isn't as strong as a starter as he used to be, only getting to the fifth inning in 2 starts. He pitched great when he was in the pen when he got back off the DL.

So Joba pitches tonight. I won't be sitting at my computer watching the gameday like I normally do, I'm gonna go to a South Bend Silverhawks game tonight, watch them get the pants beat off them while I'm hoping the Yankees are winning.

The Yankees get 2 in the second with a single by Cano, single by Posada, and error base for Matsui, that scores Cano. Cabrera hits a sacrifice fly to score Posada. The Mariners get 1 in the third from a home run. Cabrera hits into a force out, but scores Cano from third. The Mariners get 2 in the fifth from many singles and such. 3-3.

In the seventh Damon leads off with a double and is scored with a Rodriguez home run. 5-3. But in the eighth, Bruney replaces Hughes and gives up 2. 5-5. But the Yankees get the lead back in the eighth. Matsui leads off with a double, followed by a Swisher single, followed by a Cabrera double, scores Matsui, followed by a Jeter single to score Swisher and Cabrera. 5-8, the lead holds.

Joba pitched 5.1 innings, gave up 3 runs on 9 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strike outs. Not the best of starts for him, he doesn't get the win. Bruney, with his blown save, gets the win. Rivera gets his 19th save of the season.

Damon went 2-4 with a double and scored a run. Rodriguez went 1-4 with a 2 run home run.

In other news, the Red Sox gave up 10 to 1 lead in the seventh. The bullpen gave up 5 in the seventh and 5 in the eighth, including 2 off of Papelbon for his second blown save. Sweet.

Game 78, Gainst the Mets, Subway Sweep complete, Mo 500!!

I saw the first 2 innings of this game in a resturant in Ft Wayne, then I listened to the next 6 innings in the car on my way home to South Bend, then I saw the last inning at home. I was hopeing, wishing, praying that it would all work out for Wang and Rivera on the same night, and it did in a big sweet way.

Before Wang had to throw his first pitch the Yankees gave him some breathing room. In the first, Jeter starts off with a double. He beats out the throw to third to get Swisher on with a fielders choice. Teixeira hits a 2 run double and is scored after advancing to third on a Cano ground out and scores on a Posada sacrifice fly. 3-0.

The Mets get 2 in the forth after a walk, double, ground out and single. 3-2. The next and final run doesn't happen until the ninth inning.

Posada singles, Cabrera force out, Gardner walk, Damon line out, Jeter intentional walk. Bases loaded, 2 out for Mariano Rivera. He works a full count with a nice cut foul ball in there. Ball four! Rivera gets an RBI with a walk! 4-2 Final, Wang gets the win, Rivera gets number 500!!!!

Wang pitched 5.1 innings, gave up 2 runs on 4 hits with 3 walks and 3 strike outs. He is now 1-6 with an ERA of 10.06, 1 more batter and he might have dropped down to single digits... River pitched for the last 4 batters with 2 strike outs and 2 ground outs he gets his 500th career save!

Jeter went 1-2 with a double and 3 walks. Swisher went 1-2 with 1 walk. He was taken out during the sixth inning to switch around the out field and pitching spot in the line up. Teixeira went 1-4 but his hit was a 2 run double! Not a great game but a win none the less.

5 straight!

Game 77, Gainst the Mets, Woohoo, Game 2

Burnett pitches tonight, going for win

The Yankees score first in the third inning with a Swisher solo homer, his 14th of the year. The Yankees have another 4 run inning, no help from the Mets this time, in the sixth. Teixeira doubles to start off the hit rally, followed by a single by Rodriguez that scores Teixeira. Cano doubles, Rodriguez advances to third, and Posada hits a home run to score both of them. 5-0, Final.

Burnett pitches 7 innings allowing 0 runs on 1 hit and 3 walks! He had 10 strike outs, amazing start for him. Only 4 base runners for the Mets the entire game. His ERA went from 4.24 to 3.93.

Swisher and Teixeira went 1-3 with a home run and a double respectively. Rodriguez, Cano, Posada, and Pena went 1-4 with a single, double, home run, and double respectively. Cabrera went 2-4 with 2 singles.

Game 76, Gainst the Mets, Subway Series Part 2

The Yankees, I think, are 0-3 in rain delayed games. This one was delayed for about 50 minutes, lets see how it goes.

The Yankees get started in the second with Sabathia's help on he mound and at the plate. It all started with a Melky lead off single in the second and advance to second on a throwing error by third baseman Wright. Pena doubled Cabrera home and Sabathia hit a single to score Pena from second. The Yankees get some help from the Mets in this inning. Damon reaches on a throwing error by shortstop Cora and scores Sabathia. Teixeira reaches on a fielding error by Evans and scores Gardner. 4 runs scores with 3 errors by the Mets, only 2 runs were earned. 4-0.

Gary Sheffield homers in the bottom of the fifth. That puts an end to Sabathias command over the Mets, he pitched a 4 inning no hitter. 4-1. In the eighth inning Gardner homers, Teixeira draws a walk and Rodriguez hits a home run with two outs on the first pitch to him. Poor unexperienced pitcher, never throw a perfect pitch right down the line to a power hitter. 7-1.

Brett Tomko replaces Sabathia in the eighth. 6 up, 6 down. ERA went down to 5.51. In the ninth inning, Pena singled, Gardner tripled to score Pena, Damon doubled to score Gardner. 9-1, Final.

Sabathia pitched 7 innings, gave up 1 run on only 3 hits. He had zero walks and 8 strike outs. Great strong start for the big man tonight. Good start to the series.

Gardner went 5-6! Great lead off night for him, 3 singles, a triple and a home run. He scored 3 times and had 2 RBIs. Rodriguez was 1-2 with a home run and three walks. Pena also had a great night, playing for the sick Jeter. He went 3-5 scoring 2 runs with 1 RBI.

Game 75, Gainst the Braves, Decide the Series

Pettitte pitches tonight.

Yankees get stated early. 5 hits in the first, Jeter, Damon, Rodriguez, Posada (walk) Swisher, and Garnder. The Yankees only get 2 runs out of it, however, Teixeira grounded into a double play and Rodriguez's hit was a home run with Jeter on third. The Braves get on back in the bottom of the first. 2-1.

The Yankees get another run in the second with a Jeter single, Damon walk, and a Rodriguez single to score Jeter from third. 3-1. In the top of the third the Yankees get some more with a Gardner single, Ransom single, Jeter walk, and a Damon triple! 6-1.

In the fourth, Rodriguez gets on by an error and Posada hits to third with a single. Ransom hits a double to score them both, 8-1. The Braves score 5 in the forth, and we got ourselves a ball game, 8-6 now.

After a Jeter single, Damon walk, double steal, Teixeira intentional walk, Rodriguez hits a single to score Jeter and Damon, 10-6. In the eighth, the Yankees tack on 1 more with a Damon single to score Ransom. 11-6. The Braves got 1 more in the bottom of the ninth. Final 11-7. The Yankees scored at least 1 run in all except 2 innings.

Pettitte pitched 3.2 innings, gave up 6 runs, 3 earned, on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strike outs. Not a good start but with the Yankees hitting, it's ok.

Jeter went 4-5 with a walk and getting on through an error. He was on 6 times and scored 4 runs! Damon went 3-4 with a triple and 2 walks. He scored 4 RBIs! Rodriguez went 3-5 with a home run. He also scored 4 RBIs! Ransom went 2-5 scoreing twice with 2 RBIs. Teixeira 0-5. Great hitting game for some.

Game 74, Gainst the Braves, make up for that 0-4 loss

So the Yankees won this one. Much to talk about.

Joba gets into trouble but not to much, gives up a home run in the fifth. The Yankees bounce back in the sixth after Gardner gets called off at first but was really back safely. The Yankees get 3 with a Cervilli home run and a 2 run single by Rodriguez with two outs. 3-1 after 6. Swisher gets a home run in the seventh to make it 4-1. After Joba gives up 1 more in the seventh, he is taken out for Coke, who gives up 1 on a sacrifice fly. 4-3. But it's ok because the Yankees are awake now.

Interesting play in the eighth. Cano up, bases loaded after a Damon single, Teixeira single, and Rodriguez intentional walk. Cano hits a ground ball, Damon out at home, but the throw from home to first hits Cano in the back. So only one out in the play with Teixeira scoring from second after the mix up. Nick Swisher also hits a ground ball but scores Rodriguez from third.

In the bottom of the eighth Bruney relaces Coke and gives up a run to bring in Rivera. Sweet deal, Rivera gets a strike out to end the inning. In the ninth, after a ground out, Cabrera doubles and goes to third on a wild pitch, but gets called out at home after trying to score on a Jeter ground ball. So two outs, Jeter steals to get to second, Damon hits him home with a single, Teixeira hits him home with a double, Rodriguez walked, Cano walked and Rivera comes up to bat! Basews loaded Rivera batting, second time in his career batting. He gets a hit, but it's caught to end the inning, but it was a solid fly ball. Rivera later ends the game with three straight strike outs.

Joba gets the win, 4-2, and pitched 6.1 innings, gave up 7 hits but only 2 earned runs with zero walks and 5 strike outs. Much better with no walks. Damon was 3-5 scoreing 2 runs with an RBI. Teixeira goes 2-4 scoring 1 run with an RBI. Rivera gets the 4 out save, number 498, with 4 strike outs.

Game 71, Gainst the Marlins, in Florida

Burnette pitches tonight. Alex Rodriguez shall sit out tonight again.

In the second Burnette gives up a home run. 0-1. Then in the sixth, after a walk and an error by Damon in the field, the Marlins get another run. 0-2. In the seventh the Yankees get one after a Posada gets on out of fielders choice, moves over to third on a Cano single, then scores on a Swisher single. 1-2, Final.

Burnette pitched 6.1 innings, gave up just 1 earned run, only 5 hits with 3 walks, all in the sixth, and 8 strike outs. That should have been a win, buddy, that is some mighty fine pitching. Teixeira, Cano, Swisher, Matsui, and Burnett were the only Yankees to get hits. Great.

Friday, June 19, 2009

Game 70, Gainst the Marlins, In Florida

Jeter is back, but Rodriguez is sitting out with fatigue. Left side in field switch I guess.

Well the Yankees get off to a good start on the very first pitch. Jeter hits a ground rule double on the first pitch. Teixeira single moves him over to third and Posada's single scores him. Lets see if they can hold the early lead. 1-0. In the second, Cano singles, moves to second on a pop out by Cabrera. Cano is scored on a double by Berroa, playing for Rodriguez, and Berroa is scored thanks to a double by Pettitte, ya, Pettitte! Jeter singles after that to move Pettitte to third, and Damon singles to score him. In the third inning Melky Cabrera hit a home run. But in the bottom, the Marlins get a home run themselves. 5-1. And that will be the final.

Pettitte, one of his best starts of the season, went for 7 innings, gave up 1 run on only 3 hits, with 0 strike outs, and 7 strike outs! Great start for him. All of the Yankees got at least 1 hit. Damon and Teixeira went 2-5 all 4 singles. Jeter and Posada went 2-4.

Thursday, June 18, 2009

Game 69, Gainst the Nationals, Decide the Series

Joba starts today, Jeter still out of the line out. Oh boy.

So Joba gives up 2 doubles in a row in the first, Nationals score 1. After a single and 3 walks in the forth, the Nationals get 1 scored by a walk. Then in the fifth after a double, ground out, and another double, the Nationals get a third. No responce from the Yankees, 3-0. Sweet.

Joba pitched 6 innings gave up 3 runs on 7 hits with 4 walks and 6 strike outs. I'd say good start on his part. The line up, on the other hand, better than last night, almost doubled the hits! None of them consecutive enough to have a run though. Cano and Swisher went 2-4. Swisher had a double and a single, Cano, 2 singles. Alright, lets please win against the Marlins. Please, please, please...

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

Game 68, Gainst the Nationals, Wangs Last Chance

Jeter is not in the line up as lead off hitter. Damon leads off, Swisher second, Rodriguez, Teixeira, Cano, Posada, Matsui, Cabrera, and Pena batting ninth, playing short stop for the captain.

Wang walks one in the first, but gets out of it with a double play behind him. He knows everyone is watching his start today. Wang gives up a home run to Dunn in the forth. Then in the fifth he gives up a triple and 2 more runs. The Yankees get their first run, and hit, in the bottom of the fifth. Cano hits a home run to get the Yankees on the board.

Wang was taken out in the sixth, replaced by Hughes. First three pitched by Hughes, Strike out. STARTER!!! Giving up only 1 hit, Hughes is taken out in the eighth and replaced by Phil Coke, who has 3 strike outs and 1 walk.

It goes to the bottom of the ninth. 3-1, Yankees down, but not out. Damon leads off the inning with a home run. But thats all they get. With only 4 hits in the game, the Yankees fall, 3-2.

Wang pitched 5 innings gave up 3 runs off of 6 hits with 2 walks and 4 strike outs. It is much better than his previous starts, but in this league you can't give up 3 runs if the bats aren't working. Hughes was taken out in the eighth and replaced by Coke. He pitched 2 innings, gave up only 1 hit with 2 strike outs.

Cano went 1-4 with a home run, Damon went 2-4 with a home run and a double.

Wangs Day, Jeter May Not be Apart of it

Wang pitches today against the Nationals. This may be his last chance to prove he is still a starter. As of right how he is 0-4, in 5 starts, with an ERA of 14.34.

Jeter left yesterdays 3-5 win with ankle stiffness in the seventh inning. It may have been from Sunday's game when Sheffield slid into second, trying to break up the double play. Jeter was put on the day-to-day list. Pena, who relaced Jeter, had a great play in the feild and an RBI in the eighth.

Tuesday, June 16, 2009

Game 67, Gainst the Nationals, at Home

So Sabathia takes the ball against the Nationals, his first start after holding the Red Sox to 1 run in 7 innings, then blowing it in the eighth. So lets get your sixth win!

The Yankees score 1 in the second. Cabrera hit a sacrifice fly to score Cano from third. In the third inning the Yankees score another Cano singles to score Damon from third. The Yankees fall back when Sabathia gives up a 3 run homer to Anderson Hernandez in the fifth. 3-2. But in the seventh, after a Damon single, Teixeira double, and Cano double, the Yankees retake the lead 3-4. In the eighth Pena hits in an insurance run, playing for Jeter who left with ankle stiffness, with a single to score Gardner, running for Matsui. Final 3-5.

Sabathia pitched 7.2 innings, allowing 3 runs off of 6 hits with 2 strike outs and 1 walk (last at bat he pitched in the eighth inning). He was taken out after that walk and replace by Brian Bruney for the 1 last at bat of the eighth. Rivera got his 15th save of the season. 3 more till 500.

Cano was 4-4 scoring a run with 2 RBIs. He had half the hits of the game.

The Yankees are back to 10 over .500. Tomorrow Wang (0-4) hopes to get his ERA down. He needs all the help he can get to get his first win. No offence but I think Wang should be in the Pen and Hughes should be the 5th starter. Wang pitched 3 scoreless innings some time ago in the seventh, eighth of a game and then the next game. He seems much better later than earlier.

Monday, June 15, 2009

Day Off for Yankees, Washington Tomorrow

Sabathia pitches against the Nationals tomorrow, looking for his sixth win. I hope he gets his second complete game of the season tomorrow, if Girardi lets him. Girardi took Phil Hughes out of a 11-0 game against the Rangers in May. The Yankees were up and the Rangers only scored 1, in the ninth, when Hughes had finished eight complete innings. So far, the Yankees have only 1 complete game by a starter. CC Sabathia pitched a 4 hit shut out against the Orioles in early May.

The Yankees are second in their division, 36-27, Nationals are fifth in their division, 16-45. Boy I hope the Yankees take advantage of playing them at home, 6-23 on the road.

Red Sox play the Florida Marlins, 38-25 gainst 32-33. Better odds of Marlins taking at least 1 than the Nationals.

Sunday, June 14, 2009

Game 66, Subway Series, Game 3

Burnette has his next start after a 7-0 loss against the Red Sox earlier this week. Lets hope the lineup is a little more awake.

The Yankees score 4 early in the second. Cano doubles to start off the inning and then after 2 outs and a Matsui walk, Cervilli singles, Jeter singles, and Damon singles. Damon called out at second after scoring Cervilli and Jeter. In the forth the Yankees blow it wide open with a walk (Swisher), home run (Matsui), double (Cabrera), single (Cervilli), single (Jeter), double (Damon), single (Teixeira), bases loaded double play (Rodriguez), home run (Cano), walk (Swisher), walk (Matsui), double but called out at third (Cabrera). 9 run forth inning.

In the top of the seventh the Yankees pull out most of the infield. Pena, who replaced Rodriguez in the sixth, moves to SS, Berroa in at 3rd, Swisher moves to first (Teixeira out), and Gardner in center field. They hold the Mets and score 2 more in the bottom because Berroa was hit, Damon walked, Gardner walked, Pena singled, and Cano scored 1 with a sacrifice fly. Final score, 0-15! The Yankees scored 8 runs with 2 outs.

I don't understand why they took Burnett out in the eighth. I wish the management would let these guys finish some of their games instead of using the bullpen. The starters have 4 guaranteed rest days but the next game could go into extra innings and the bullpen is down a bit. See, Robertson comes in and has 2 strike outs in an inning. Those are 2 strike outs we may need in the next game!

Burnett pitched 7 innings, gave up no runs! on only 4 hits! with 4 walks (boo) and 8 strikeouts! I think he should have finished the game.

Jeter went 4-4 scoring 2 runs with 2 RBIs. Damon went 2-4 scoring 1 run with 3 RBIs. Cano went 3-4 scoring 2 runs with 3 RBIs. He had 2 doubles and a home run. Cabrera went 2-4 scoring 1 run with 2 RBIs. He had 2 doubles.

Game 65, Subway Series, Game 2

Game 2, Pettittes baby. Digs himself a hole a little early, giving up 2 in the second. Rodriguez gets one back with a home run. 2-1. In the fifth Pettitte gives up 3 more and the Yankees only have a 1 run answer in the seventh with Jeter's single to score Gardner. Final score, 6-2.

Pettitte had a rocky start giving up earned runs on 12 hits and 1 walk with 3 strike outs. The line up had an even rockier game, going 5-32 overall. Rodriguez went 1-2 with a home run.

Game 64, Subway Seires, Game 1

Sorry about not posting this week. I had no good words for Tuesday's game, still bad things to say about Wednesday's game, and more bad things about another blown game last night. Soo, against the Mets.

Cano homers in the second to be the first run of the game. In the third with bases loaded, Joba walks 1 and hits another batter to allow 2 runs. But the Yankees get them back in the bottom Teixeira homer while Garnder was on. 2-3. Won't hold the lead long, in the fifth, a double, walk, double and home run scores 4 for the Mets. The Yankees only get 1 back in the bottom with a Jeter home run. 6-4. But in the bottom of the sixth the Yankees do a lot more damage. With a Cano single, Posada walk, and a Matsui homer, the Yankees retake the lead 6-7. Wow Sheffield is mean. In the seventh, he doubles and scores on a single to tie up the score. 7-7. The Yankees give up the tie in the next inning with a walk and a double. 8-7. The game won't be decided till a most embarrassing play in the bottom of the ninth.

We all know the scenerio. Bottom of the ninth, runners on, two out. Tonights hero is Alex Rodriguez with a pop up. Thats right, a pop up was the game winning hit. Jeter singles, Teixeira intentionally walked and Rodriguez comes up in the ninth with 2 on and 2 out. He hits a pop up to Mets second baseman Luis Castillo. Castillo DROPS THE BALL, and with 2 out, nothing is holding Jeter and Teixeira to their bases. They're on their horses, both round third and score during the confusion of the missed catch! Yankees win 8-9!

Joba has had worse and better starts. This one goes with 4 innings pitched, 1 hit, 2 earned runs, 5 WALKS!, and 3 strike outs. Those 5 walks were the cause of the earned runs. Rivera does not get a save but he does get a Win.

Jeter went 2-5, scoreing 2 runs with an RBI. Teixeira went 1-3, scoreing 2 runs with 2 RBIs and 2 walks. Cano was 2-4 scoring 2 runs with 1 RBI.

The loss down in the labels is to catch up with my count, having skipped 3 posts.

Game 60, Gainst the Rays, Determine the Winner of this Cut Shot Series

Last night on Sportscenter they were talking about the Yankees come from behind win. They said it was the 20th time the Yankees have come from behind to win. Fantastic, lets keep winning, even if you only get the lead in the eighth. Pettitte pitches tonight.

Yankees get a little early lead in the first with a Teixeira home run. 0-1. In the second inning, Cano leads off with a single and, after 2 outs, Swisher comes up and smacks a home run that would be a home run anywhere. 0-3. Rodriguez has an error at third, runner advances on wild pitch, and gets to third on a fly ball is hit home with a single, then a home run hits in 2 more. 3-3. In the bottom of the sixth Damon gives Pettitte the lead with a solo home run and some margin for victory if the Yankees can defend well. 3-4. In the bottom of the eighth, first pitch, Jeter hits an insurance home run. 3-5. Final

Pettitte does get the win with 6 innings pitched, giving up 3 runs off of 5 hits and 3 walks with 7 strike outs. The Yankees had 6 hits today, 4 of those home runs by 4 different Yankees. In order those Yankees are; Teixeira, Swisher, Damon, and Jeter. Cano had a single in the second and Swisher in the seventh. Swisher 2-3 HR 2 RBI.

Yankees move up to a full game ahead of the Red Sox going into a three game series in Fenway. We know how the Yankees have done against the Red Sox so far in this season. Just 1 win will keep put back the Yankees back in a tie, but 2 wins, still in first, 3 wins, Boston Massacre.

Game 59, Gainst the Rays, Even the Series..?

The Yankees will try to even the series today against the Rays in New Yankee Stadium. Rays took last nights game with an embarassing ninth inning mess up by the Yankees pen. Lets hope that doesn't happen again.

The Rays get the first run in the third from a double by Upton to score Brignac from first. 1-0. But as we know, in New Yankee Stadium, one swing can take back that lead. Swisher, first batter of the bottom of the third, ties up the game with a right feild home run. In the sixth inning the Rays get 2 more with singles, a walk, and a 2 RBI single. 3-1. In the bottom of the eighth two singles (Damon and Teixeira), two walks (Rodriguez and Cano), an error (Posada), and a force out (Matsui) turn into 3 runs for the Yankees, who retake the lead in. 3-4.

Rivera comes in in the ninth with a tiny lead. Well last night he couldn't hold the tie so lets hope he learned from his mistates. Ground out, strike out, ground out. Fantastic. The lead holds. Yankees win.

Joba pitched 6 innings giving up 3 runs off of 5 hits with 1 walk and 4 strike outs. He should have had the win, but the line up hits late I guess with another come from behind win. Aceves pitched 2 innings giving up 1 hit with 4 strike outs. He gets the win. Rivera gets his 13th save, sweet. Thats 495 total.

Damon was 2-4 with a double and scoreing a run. Swisher was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks.

With the Yankees win today and the Red Sox loss to the Rangers, 6-3, the Yankees retake first place. Hold it this time!

Game 58, Gainst the Rays, finally

Sabathia pitches tonight against David Price for the Rays. Should have been yesterdays game but no one can help rain in an open stadium. Oh well, Red Sox lost so back it first. Hold it now.

Speaking of the game yesterday, I looked ahead at the schedule and found that the Yankees have a 3 game series against the Rays at home from September 7th to the 9th. Both teams have an off day on the 10th so I'm betting thats when they'll make up last nights game.

The first pitch in the bottom of the second inning brings home the first run. Alex Rodriguez hit his eighth home run to give the Yankees the early lead. 0-1. In the bottom of the forth Rodriguez gets on after a walk, steals second, and advances to third on a throwing error by the catcher. He later scores in the inning on a ground out by Robinson Cano. 0-2. But in the top of the fifth Zobrist, for the Rays, hits a home run. 1-2. Then a throwing error by Damon gets a Rays runner to third and scores. 2-2.

In the sixth inning Melky Cabrera doubles and advances to third on a sacrifice bunt by Cervelli. He scores on a throwing error from Price trying to pick him off of third. 2-3. In the top of the sixth Sabathia gives up a walk, a single and a home run with no outs. 5-3. In the bottom of the eighth Teixeira hits a home run, his 17th. 5-4. In that same inning Posada walks, Cano singles, and Swisher walks to bring up Cabrera. He hits a force out but scores Posada regaurdless. 5-5.

In the ninth Rivera comes in and gives up a triple and a single without an out. Then later that single scores. Phil Cokes comes in with 2 outs. He gives up a single and a Rodrigiuz error keeps the fun rolling. 9-5. In the bottom of the ninth it will be the top of the order, if they ever get there. The Yankees have struggled with this last out for the last 3 runs. All right, Crawford caught stealing, the responce...Jeter single, Damon double, Teixeira 2 run double, Rodriguez ground out, Posada fly out, and Cano fly out. Final 9-7.

Sabathia pitched 8 innings givings up 5 runs, 4 earned, off of 5 hits with 3 walks and 5 strike outs. Teixeira went 2-5 with a home run and 2 RBI double. Rodriguez went 1-3 with a home run and scoreing 2. It was a good game, except for the ninth inning pitching.

Game 57, Gainst the Rays, Rained out

This is the third Yankees game that has been rained out at New Yankee Stadium. There isn't a make up day yet. Sabathia will have his start tomorrow and Burnett will start on Tuesday against the Red Sox, to honor his suspention, and Pettitte will pitch on Monday. So the Yankees won't play tonight. Oh well, lets just hope the Red Sox lose so the Yankees can have first place without having to win and tie it again.

What do you know, the Rangers beat the Red Sox 5-1, sweet. So the Yankees are half a game up without doing anything. The Yankees are back where they should be, uncontested first place.

There will not be a double header on Saturday for sure. But both games on Saturday and Sunday are scheduled to be at 1:05 so Sunday would be a good time to make it up.

Game 56, Gainst the Rangers, Decide the Series, also, Burnett Suspended

So Wang is pitching. I will not say anything about his three starts let's see if he can redeem himself.

Well the Yankees get off to a good start. With Jeter sitting out Damon takes the first spot in the line up. After working a full count he hits a home run to right field. 0-1 early. But in the third and the fourth the Rangers get 2 each and 1 in the fifth. 5-1. In the bottom of the fifth the Yankee bats woke up. Cervelli and Pena singles and a walk to Damon loads the bases. A walk to Swisher forces 1 run in and a Teixeira 3 RBI double forces the rest in. Rodriguez also singles to score Teixeira. 5-6 Yankees on top.

In the sixth another Ranger home run ties it up, but the eighth inning home run determines the winner. Melky Cabrera hits a home run after a walk to Cano for the lead and the eventual win. Melky Magic again. Final 6-8.

Wang gives up 5 earned runs off of 7 hits with only 1 walk and 5 strike outs. He had a great start considering what his last 3. I was expecting to look at the score and seeing double digits. Anyways, Swisher went 2-3 with a walk, RBI, and scoring a run. Sweet, he may be back. Teixeira went 2-4 with 3 RBIs and scoreing a run.

Burnett was suspended today for intentionally throwing a ball at Cruz's head last night. Bull! He is suspended for 6 games, 1 start pretty much, but I think that's crap. The Ranger pitcher intentionally threw at Teixeira for some history last year and hit him.

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

Game 55, Gainst the Rangers,

Well Pettitte in trouble early. 3 runs against in the first inning and another in the second it is 4-1 early in the game. The Yankees get their run on a Swisher double and an RBI single by Rodriguez. In the seventh Posada homers but it is not enough. 4-2 final.

Pettitte did not have a good start today. He gave up 4 earned runs on 7 hits 6 walks and only 6 strikeouts. Jeters hit streak is ended, going 0-4 tonight. Swisher went 2-3 scoring 1 of the runs and hitting a double. Posada went 2-4 with a home run.

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

Game 54, Gainst the Rangers, at Home

Tonight is game 1 of a 7 game home stand against the Rangers then the Rays. Burnett starts.

In the second the Yankees get 2 with a Gardner single, then a balk scores Gardner from third later in the inning. But the Rangers get 3 in the third with a Cruz 3 run home run.

The Yankees break it wide open in the fifth. After walks to Cabrera and Jeter, Damon singles to score Cabrera, Rodriguez grounds into RBI force out to score Jeter, Cano singles to score Damon, Posada singles to score Rodriguez, and Matsui hits a 3 run home run. 7 runs in the fifth to take the lead back 3-9. In the sixth, Posada homers with Rodriguez and Cano on. 3-12, Final.

Burnett pitched 7 innings gave up 3 runs off of 8 hits, 1 walk and had 8 strike outs. Jeter went 3-4 scoring once, Posada went 3-4 with a 3 run home run, and Matsui went 2-4 with a 3 run home run. Good win

Tonight, In the MLB...

Yankees (30-21) take on the first place Rangers (30-20). Padilla vs. Burnett, both 3-2, with a 4.7 ERA.

Meanwhile, Red Sox (29-22) take on the first place Tigers (28-21). Matsuzaka vs. Porcella.

So this week 3 first place teams play with a projected first place winner. Interesting week.

Game 53, Final game gainst the Indians

Joba has his start in this series against the Indians.

The Yankees strike first in this game 4 with a walk to Gardner, a single from Jeter and a RBI double play from Swisher in the third. But the Indians break Jobas no hitter in the forth with a home run. 1-1 Not a scoring play but just amazing. Joba gets himself in a bit of trouble in the fifth with runners on first and second. A bunt attemp off the bat of Kelly Shoppach pops up to half way between third and the mound. Chamberlain leaps off the mound catches the ball on a dive and throws to second for the double play. For the third out, Posada catches Jamey Carroll stealing. Bad inning turned into a Yankee fire starter. Lets see how they handle it.

With a walk to Matsui, pinch hitting for Berroa, a walk to Gardner, and a walk to Jeter the Yankees score 2 with a Swisher single in the seventh. I feel alot better about the lineup now rather than last inning with three walks with no outs and no runs in. That was horrible. 3-1 now. Teixeira is intentionally walked to load the bases again. And this time Rodriguez hits a single to score Jeter and Swisher. Teixeira out at second over running the bases. So I guess that worked out for the Indians. In that inning, five walks and 2 singles turns into 4 runs for the Yankees. 5-1.

In the bottom of the frame the Indians get 1 with a ground out RBI. 5-2 final.

Joba Chamberlain pitches 8 innings giving up 2 runs off of 4 hits with 2 walks and 5 strike outs. Rivera pitched in the ninth getting his eleventh save of the year. 493 all time. The Yankees took 11 walks this game. Jeter was 2-3 with 2 walks scoring 1 run. Swisher was 2-4 with 2 RBIs, scoring a run, and a walk. Rodriguez was 1-4 with 2 RBIs, but 2 strike outs. Ouch. Could have been a better game but I'll take the win without a comeback from the Indians.

The end of this game marks the end of the Indians Yankees games for the season. After 8 games the record is 5-3 in favor of the Yankees. Done with 1, 13 AL teams to finish up with.

The Yankees now have the record for errorless games with 18 straight. Sweet, they are now headed home where earlier this year they won an entire 6 game homestand. Lets get some more, please.

Tomorrow the Yankees play the Rangers at home at 7:05. AJ Burnett starts against Padilla.
Wednesday Pettitte, with the Yankees best starting record (5-1) starts against Feldman at 7:05.
Thursday Sabathia takes on McCarthy at 1:05 to end the series.

Sunday, May 31, 2009

Game 52, Gainst the Indians, 3 of 4

Hughes starts and he does start well. Two strike outs in the first, two in the second, and two in the forth.

The Indians get 3 runs in the inning that Hughes pitched no strike outs. In the third he allows 3 hits, a walk, hit by pitch and a sacrifice fly. Then the Indians get 1 more in the fifth off a double, a single and a sacrifice fly. The Yankees finally get 2 in the sixth with a single by Damon and a homer by Teixeira. Then in the eighth the Yankees get 2 more with a Jeter single, a Damon double and a Teixeira double. So far Teixeira has hit all 4 Yankee runs in. 4-4 in the ninth. But the Indians won with a single in the ninth. 4-5 final.

Phil Hughes had an all right start. He allows 4 runs off 5 hits with 1 walk and 6 strike outs. Wang takes over in the sixth. He allows 1 hit with 1 walk and 3 strike outs in 3 innings. His ERA is down to 16.07. Much better than his 32 he had just 2 games hes been in ago. Robertson gives up the game winning hit but its Cokes earned run, giving up the walk in the beginning of the inning.

Teixeira has a 4 RBI game with a home run and a 2 RBI double. Jeter was 2-4 with a double in the first and a single. Damon was also 2-4 with a double and a single. Swisher was 1-3 with 2 strike outs. Sweet. So the Yankees need to win tomorrow to win the series and stay ahead of the winner of the Red Sox Blue Jays game.

Around the Division, Hold First With Some Help

Yankees hold onto first place thanks to a 10-5 win against the Cleveland Indians and a Boston loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. The Yankees are now 1.5 ahead of both the Blue Jays and the Red Sox. Tampa Bay also won today against the Twins, 5-2, so they keep their spot 5.5 games behind. The Orioles, however, fall to the Tigers, 3-6 and fall back another game, 6.5. This league still is the tightest in baseball at this time. And with the Dodgers having trouble in Chicago, could very well be in the running for best division with best division leader.

Game 51, Gainst the Indians, In Cleveland

Sabathia is pitching tonight. His last start was pretty good.

The Yankees start it off right in the second. Posada homers and then Swisher homers to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead. In the forth Matsui doubles, Swisher is walked, and Gardner gets on by error. Jeter singles to score Matsui and Swisher. Damon singles to score Gardner. Teixeira reaches on feilders choice, Jeter out at home, and Rodriguez is walked. Cano hits Damon and Teixeira home but Rodriguez is out at third. 7-0.

After about 5 singles in the fifth the Indians score 2. In the sixth Gardner walks and Jeter singles. Damon grounds out to score Garnder. Sizemore hits a homer in the bottom of the frame. 8-3.

In the ninth Teixeira doubles and Cano hits him home with a single but advances to second on the throw. Matsui hits Cano home with a double of his own. The Indians score 2 in the bottom of the ninth with a homer and a double to score. 10-5 final.

Sabathia pitched 7 innings giving up only earned runs off of 5 hits with 3 walks but 8 strike outs. Not his best start but it gave the bulllpen a bit of a break. Cano was 2-5 with 3 RBIs and scored a run. Matsui was 3-5 with an RBI and scoring a run. Swisher was 1-4 with a walk and an RBI and scoring 2 runs, batting 8th.

Tomorrow Hughes takes on the Indians. 12:40, on TBS.

Around the Division. First Place Change!

With a Win for the Yankees and a loss to the Red Sox delivered by the Blue Jays to end their losing streak puts the Yankees in first place by half a game. All Right!!

Red Sox lost tonday 3-6 to the Blue Jays. The Jays were down 2-1 until they scored 5 in the fifth. Sweet. Ortiz still has only 1 home run.

Baltimore won today, 5 straight for them. Being the last place team in the division it is kind of scary since they're only 5.5 games back. Tampa Bay beat the Twins 5-3. So the only team in the East division that lost today was the Red Sox. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Yankees 28 20
Boston 28 21 .5
Toronto 28 23 1.5
Tampa Bay 24 27 5.5
Baltimore 23 26 5.5

Closest division right now. Yikes.

Game 50, Gainst the Indains, in Cleveland

Pettitte pitches tonight against Cliff Lee. Lets get another win.

In the second the Yankees get 2 with many singles. Swisher walks, Gardner singles, Jeter singles (to score Swisher), Damon singles, and Teixeira grounds out to score Gardner. In the third Cano singles, then Posada singles, then Matsui grounds out to advance the runners and Swisher goes out on a sacrifice fly. The Indians get 1 in the sixth. Final 3-1.

Pettitte pitched 5 innings gave up 1 earned run on 6 hits with 5 walks and 1 strike out. Not his strongest start but I'll take it. Rivera got another save. That is 492 I believe. Jeter went 2-5 with an RBI. Swisher went 1-2 with an RBI and scoreing a run. Posada, first day back, went 2-3 sweet. Good game. 2 consecutive.

Around the Division, Can't Prevent Losing First Place

So the Red Sox beat the Twins today a stunning 3-1 victory. The Yankees could do nothing but sit on their hands at the Cleveland Cavaliers game 5 tonight and watch as first place came and went. Anyways, the Indians finish the sweep of the Rays today with a 1-2 win. Rays have lost, I think, 17 straight in Cleveland. Jacobs field when I went there, now Progressive. Right?

So as the Yankees fight for their first place title again, and wins to help that cause against the Indians, the Red Sox take on the falling Blue Jays who have lost 9 straight now, which started with a sweep from the Red Sox last week. The embarrassed Rays play the Twins this weekend and Baltimore plays the Tigers.

The Yankees play the Indians in Cleveland this weekend. It will be a 4 game series, starting with Pettitte pitching tomorrow, the 29th, against Cliff Lee. On Saturdays game the Indians line up goes against Sabathia. That'll be fun. And on Sunday Hughes will take the mound for the Yankees. Mondays game is yet to be announced but I am guessing it will either be Joba or Wang. Wow, Wang and the Indians. Bad memories there. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Around the Division, First Place Tie, the Inevitable

Yup, you guessed it. With the Yankees win against the Rangers and the Red Sox loss to the Twins the 1 game ahead leaders have lost their leverage. The division is tied now, not with the League Champs of last year Rays or the good start leaders for 40 games Blue Jays, but the old, never ending, always exciting rivalry. The Yankees have tied for first now. As quickly as this tie has come about, however, it can be taken away just as quickly. The Red Sox play the Twins again tomorrow and the Yankees have an off day. This is either good news or bad. If the Red Sox win, they are just half a game up, but up none the less. If they lose, the Yankees are half a game up without doing anything tomorrow night. Come on Twins, you helped us out 2 weeks ago, helps us a little again.

Speaking of the Blue Jays, their loss tonight puts them at 9 striaght losses. They have been swept now by the Boston, Atlanta, and now the Orioles. Yikes, and I told my friends just last month that they would never hold it. I gave them till the All Star Break to lose it, but they did it a month and a half early.

Also speaking of the Rays, Monday, up 10-0, Blown. Tuesday, Never ahead, outscored 5-1. Wednesday, up 5-0, Blown wide open. Team to be feared? Maybe they're a second half team..?

The Yankees play the Indians to finish off this week. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday in Cleaveland. Lets hope the Indians use all their comeback juice on the Rays. Yikes, then rough schedule in the first half of the month. Rangers again, Tampa Bay again, Boston again (great), then the Mets, who are leading their division right now. Bad month.

Even with the teams beating up each other the AL Ease looks to have the best division thus far. Top 3 have 27 wins, no team 5 under .500.

Game 49, Gainst the Rangers, Decide the Winner

Burnett starts tonight. Goes for his 3rd win. Also a win for the Yankees and a loss for the Red Sox ties up the division.

The Yankees bats start early again, like Mondays game. Jeter singles and Teixeira homers for a 2-0 lead early in the first inning. The Yankees add on another in the second with a double by Kevin Cash and a double by Jeter to score.

In the sixth Matsui hits a home run to start the inning and the Yankees get 2 more after a walk to Swisher, a single bunt to Gardner (supposed to be sacrifice bunt) and a 2 run single to Cash. 6-0 after six played.

In the seventh inning Cano doubles to start off and Matsui hits another home run to make it 8-0. But the Rangers aren't silent all night. After taking Burnett out in the sixth, Veras gives up a double and a home run to get the Rangers on the board. 8-2

In the ninth Cano hits a 2 strike home run as an insurance run. 9-2, Final.

Burnett pitched 6 shut outs innings giving up only 3 hits but had 4 walks and 7 strike outs. Good, but not perfect. Wang pitched the eighth and the ninth and gave up no runs!! He had 2 strike outs, 2 fly outs, and 2 ground outs.

Jeter got on base 5 out of 6 times but was only scored once. He was 3-4 with 2 walks. Matsui was 2-4 with 2 home runs in back to back innings. Cash was 2-4 with 2 RBIs. 10 runners left on base for the Yankees. Good game, but with 15 hits there should be more produced. No no I am not complaining. Good job.

Game 48, Gainst the Ranger, In Texas

Joba starts todays game just 5 games after his knee was nearly broken by a hit ball. We shall see how it goes.

Joba has a rough start early. 2 runs score after a feilders choice, double, walk and another single. The Yankees had a runner on third in the first, second, and third but could not score, yet. 0-2 in the bottom of the second. In the forth Joba gives up a home run to Chris Davis. 0-3, but it was an improving inning, his first of the night without a walk.

Mark Teixeira hits a home run in the top of the fifth to get the Yankees on the board and take down the lead. I was beginning to think it was going to be a eight inning shut out. Joba is pulled in the fifth and Alfredo Aceves is put in. He has the first one, two, three inning with two ground outs and a strike out to retire the Rangers with no damage done.

In the sixth Gardner singles and steals second, third of the game, and is scored by a Matsui double. And after a Swisher strike out, Cervelli singles to score Matsui to tie the game at 3. Melky Cabrera was taken out in the first inning because he ran into the wall trying to catch a ball and strained his shoulder. I guess we won't be seeing any Melky Magic tonight or tomorrow until after the MRI.

The Rangers take the lead again in the bottom with a double and a single. The Yankees had something going in the bottom, single by Cano, single by Gardner, Matsui hit by pitch, but Swisher hits into a double play and the inning is over. The hero of last month becomes the Yankee dead weight.

After a single and a double the Rangers score another after a ground out. After a fly out the Rangers have another run. 3-6 after seven played. In the bottom Davis homers again. 3-7

It seemed like everytime the Yankees had a little going for them the Rangers took it right back. Double plays ended three of the nine innings for the Yankees. First three innings ended with a runner on third. Joba started rough, taken out and the game was still rough. 4 innings pitched, 4 hits, 3 runs, 4 walks hurt bad, and 5 strike outs. Aceves also gave up 3 runs, but in only 2 innings. He had 0 walks and 2 strike outs. Gardner had a good game, 3-4, 3 stolen bases, and scored a run. Matsui was 2-3 scoring a run and an RBI.

Around the League:

Cubs snap their 8 game losing streak with a 6-1 5 inning win over the Pirates.
Padres loss snapping their 10 game win streak. Even after the 10 wins, the loss keeps them at .500.
Red Sox loss against the Twins 2-5. Good time to tie for first if the Yankees can pull off a win.
Blue Jays continue to lose. Have lost 8 straight. Lost the lead and are now in 3rd place in the division.
Tampa Bay loses again to the Indians. That come back win must have really hurt their pride.

Monday, May 25, 2009

Game 47, Gainst the Ranger, Hughes day

Phil Hughes starts tonight. trying to improve his 2-2 record.

Well the Yankees start their bats early tonight. Jeter doubles, Damon singles, Teixeira doubles, and Rodriguez singles to start off the game. 4 straight hits in the first gives them a 2-0 lead early.

In the third Damon doubles to start off the inning and Teixeira walks to bring up Rodriguez again. He doubles to bring in Damon. Then Cano triples to bring in the 2 on base. Swisher grounds out to bring in Cano. Alex Rodriguez singles in the fifth and Cabrera singles to get him to third base and Swisher hits him home for another run. 7-0.

In the sixth inning Jeter walks, Damon walks and Teixeira singles to score Jeter. Rodriguez doubles to score Damon and Teixeira. Teixeira hit by a pitch to start off the eighth. Roriguez singles, Cano singles and Nick Swisher is the one to score the RBI. He goes out with a sacrifice fly to score Teixeira. 11-0 after eight.

Phil hughes taken out in the ninth. Won't finish his shut out win. Yikes, I'd have left him in, get his confidence through the roof. Anyways, Alfredo Aceves gives up the only run to the Rangers of the game. A home run to Nelson Cruz in the ninth. Final 11-1.

Phil Hughes pitched 8 innings gave up 0 runs off of 3 hits with only 1 walk and 6 strike outs. I am pretty sure this game was the best start by any starter for the Yankees. I guess i am kind of glad Wang had 2 disgusting games. Hughes has 3 wins now.

Rodriguez went 5-5 with 2 doubles and 3 singles. He scored 2 of the runs and had 4 RBIs. Cash also had a good game going 3-5 with 3 singles. 11 runs scored by the Yankees off of no home runs. 0 home runs for the Yankees and 11 runs. I am impressed.

Game 46, Gainst the Phillies, Decide the Series

CC Sabathia starts today at Yankee Stadium. He will pitch the final game that decides who wins the series against the World Champion Phillies. He starts against the Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels. In Sabathia's last start he held the Orioles to just 1 run and 3 hits in a 9-1 victory last week. Lets see how this one goes.

The Phillies score 2 in the third off a single, a double and another single. The Yankees get 1 back in the bottom of the inning with two doubles, Gardner, who scored, and Damon, with the RBI. In the sixth the Phillies score another with a single and a double. Teixeira scores 1 for the Yankees in the bottom with a home run.

The Yankees don't catch up to the Phillies until the ninth again tonight. Cano singled and Cabrera singled him in after Pena pitch ran and stole second. 3-3 in the top of the tenth.

In the top of the eleventh Tomko walked 2 and gave up a hit, and the tie, and the win to the Phillies. 4-3 final.

Sabathia had a good start, not his best, but still good. He gave up 3 earned runs off of 9 hits with 0 walks and only 4 strike outs. Jeter had a good game going 3-5. Cabrera also went 3-5 with an RBI, the game tying 1 in the ninth. Rodriguez and Matsui went 0-4 with 3 strike outs and 0-5 with 2 strike outs. Good game for the power hitters I guess.

Game 45, Gainst the Phillies

Both teams score 1 in the second, the Phillies scored one off a home run and Swisher had a ground out that scored Cano. The Phillies score 3 more in the fifth, though with a 3 run homer and Jeter gets 1 in the sixth. 4-2.

In the ninth inning Damon leads off with a walk and Rodriguez hits him home with a home run to tie the game at 4! Cano singles after that and brings up Cabrera. Cabrera singles to score Cano and it is another come from behind win with Cabrera being the clutch man! 4-5 final!

Pettitte started and he went for 7 innings giving up 4 earned runs off of 5 hits with 2 walks and 5 strike outs. It was a good start, the line up didn't wake up till the ninth inning I guess. Veras gets the win when I thought he was going to blow it in the ninth. Not blow it but make it worse for the line up. Anyways, Teixeira went 2-4, Gardner went 1-1 with a double but wasn't able to score, Swisher went 0-3 with a strike out. Come on Swisher, let it be April again for you. Had such a good start.

Game 44, Gainst the Phillies

The Yankees take on the World Champions tonight, first game of a 3 game series.

4 home runs win it for the Phillies. Yikes, 1 in the first, 2 run in the second, 2 run in the fifth, and another one in the seventh. Yankees had only had 3 single home runs. Rodriguez in the sixth and Jeter and Teixeira in the seventh. Couldn't help the lose.

Burnette 5 earned runs off 8 hits with 2 walks with 7 strike outs in 6 innings. Man this should have been a win. Rodriguez went 2-4 with a double and a home run. Jeter and Teixeira also went 2-4 with home runs. Swisher went 0-4 with 2 strike outs. uh oh.

Tomorrows game is at 4:10. Pettitte is starting. Come on win!

Game 43, Gainst the Orioles, at home, going for the Sweep

After just 2 outs, 14 pitches, Joba Chamberlain is done for the night. A pitch hit right back to him hit him in the knee and he was taken out 2 singles later. Does this count for a win if the Yankees score in the first and keep the lead. We'll find out.

In the bottom of the first Jeter doubles, Cano doubles to score Jeter, and Teixeira doubles to score Cano. Thats right, Cano's batting second this game. Damon is not in the line up at all tonight. After two outs, Swisher walks and Cabrera doubles to score Teixeira and Swisher but is called out at third on the throw. Trying to stretch it a little to far.

In the second Cano homers with Gardner on base. 0-6. In the fifth the Orioles get 1 from a home run but Matsui evens it back out with a home run of his own. The Orioles get 2 more in the sixth and 1 more in the seventh to make the games final 4-7. 9 straight.

Joba does not get the win. Surprise, Alfredo Aceves gets the win, finishing the first inning and three more. Rivera gets his ninth save tonight, 491 total. Cano went 3-4 with a home run and 3 RBIs. Teixeira went 2-3 with an RBI and scored a run. Rodriguez went 0-4.

Yankees play the World Champions tomorrow. The Phillies in New Yankee Stadium. Burnett, lets have a good game.

Joba Game 2 in streak

So this will be Joba's second start in this 8 game streak. His last outing, in my opinion, was one of the best of his season so far. He pitched for 6 innings against the Twins, only gave up 2 earned runs off of 3 hits and had 6 strike outs. He did not get the W because Coke pitched and lost the lead in the seventh giving up a home run and 2 runs. In this streak, I think Joba is the only starter who did not get a win. So lets get it tonight baby.

Joba starts tonight against the Orioles in New Yankee Stadium at 7:05.

Game 42, Gainst the Orioles, at Home

The first game I can see on gameday in almost a week. Hughes vs. Guthrie. Sweet, lets get your second win Hughes.

Damon walks and that comes back to bite Guthrie. Teixeira hits a double to score the walked base runner. 0-1. In the second Swisher, Cano, and Cabrera add to that lead with back to back to back home runs. 0-4. In the third, after a walk to Rodriguez and Swisher, Cano hits a single to score Rodriguez. Hughes gives up 2 in the forth and 1 in the fifth after a single and 2 home runs. 3-5

After a Rodriguez walk, Matsui single, and a Swisher walk, Cano singled, Cabrera singled, and Cash hit a sacrifice fly. Jeter doubled to clear the bases further, hitting in Cano and Cabrera. Damon hits in Jeter with a single in the next at bat. 3-11. After a home run in the ninth the final is 4-11.

Hughes gets his second win giving up 3 earned runs, 6 hits, with 1 walk and 9 strike outs. Rivera gets his 490th save tonight by pitching for the last batter in the ninth when the lead was still only 2 runs. Swisher went 1-2 with 2 walks, his hit being a home run. Cano went 3-4 with 3 RBIs. Cabrera went 2-4 scoring 2 runs and hitting a home run. Rodriguez and Teixeiras home run streaks come to an end tonight but with 3 back to back to back home runs coming from further down the line up. Good win. 8 STRAIGHT!!

Games 40 and 41 at home, Gainst the Twins and Orioles

I went camping the last 2 days, got a nice tan, but missed an exciting game on Monday and a great inning Tuesday. Here they are:

After giving up 2 in the first the Yankees put their bats to work and go through the entire line up in the first inning. After singles by Jeter and Damon Teixeira hits them home with a 3 run homerun. Not to be outdone, Rodriguez hits 1 of his own right after Teixeira empties the bases. Cano hits a ground rule double and Cabrera hits him home with a single. Cervelli hits Cabrera home with a single. 6 runs scored in the first inning.

The Twins threaten a little bit later, scoring 1 in the forth and sixth, but Teixeira keeps the Yankees ahead with another home run in the seventh. The final score, 6-7 Yankees.

Pettitte gets the win allowing 4 runs, 12 hits, giving 1 walk and 3 strike outs. Jeter went 2-5, both hits in the first inning, Teixeira went 2-4, both hits home runs, Rodriguez went 1-3, his hit being a home run. Swisher definetly still struggling, 0-4.

Yesterdays game I wish I could have seen. Just because it looked like it was going to be close, until the seventh.

After giving up 1 run in the first, the Yankees answer back with 2. With Damon on, Rodriguez hits a home run to give the Yankees the lead, 1-2. Nothing happens till the bottom of the seventh. Swisher and Cano walk and Cabrera singles to load the bases. Cervelli reaches on a fielding error to score Swisher. Jeter doubles to score Cano, Cabrera, and Cervelli. Damon singles to score Jeter, and Teixeira hits a home run to score Damon and himself. 1-9 Final.

Sabathia pitched until the seventh inning and he left with a very comforatable lead and gets the win. He allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits giving 1 walk and 7 strike outs. Looking more and more like himself every game. Teixeira and Rodriguez went 1-3, 1-4 respectively, both hits being home runs. Swisher went 0-3, come on Swisher.

Game 39, gainst the Twins, at home

Burnett Starts tonight against the Twins in game 3 of this 4 game series.

The Twins score first in the top of the seventh with 2 runs in, but the Yankees answer back with 2 of their own. Alex Rodriguez hits a home run and Matsui doubles and scores later that inning. The winning run tonight doesn't come until the tenth when Damon hits a game winning home run.

Burnett started giving up 2 earned runs off of 6 hits, 6 walks with 7 strike outs. Yikes, 6 hits and 6 walks. In a bad game that could be the equivlent to 12 earned runs against. Anyways the bullpen took care of things after the 2 runs and no more were scored. Damon had a great game going 3-4 with the game winning home run. Many of the Yankees are still experienceing their droughts, Cano 0-2, Pena 0-3, Matsui 1-4, Rodriguez 1-3. Come on, start hitting or you won't win unless you're playing the Twins. Not many other teams will only score 2 or 3 runs against.

Game 38, Gainst the Twins, at home

Joba pitches today.  He gets off to a great start with two strike outs in the first inning, but it gets a little rocky in the second when a score runs on a sacrifice double play.  1-0  After a Jeter and a Damon walk, Teixeira hits a home run to make it 1-3 in the bottom of the third.  But the twins get 1 back in the forth off a home run by Joe Mauer.  The Twins get 2 more in the eighth but Teixeira ties it up in the bottom with a single to score Pena.  It stays like this until the 12th inning when Teixeira walks and Alex Rodriguez hits a home run to win 4-6.

Chamberlain has a good start pitching 6 innings, giving up 2 earned runs off of 3 hits, 4 walks with 6 strike outs.  Teixeira goes 4-4, holy crap, where did this guy come from, with 4 of the 6 RBIs the Yankees had.  Like Gardner was the winner of last night, Teixeira single handedly kept the Yankees in this game.  He did great while everyone else slumped.

Game 37, gainst the Twins, at Home

After giving up runs in the second, forth, forth and fifth, Jeter hits a home run in the bottom of the fifth to get the Yankees on the board. Then the Twins get a 4th run in the seventh to get a 4-1 lead. But the Yankees aren't done. Gardner hits an inside the park home run in the seventh. And then Gardner triples in the ninth and scores off a Teixeira single. Then, with bases loaded, two outs, Melky Cabrera, on the first pitch, hits a 2 run single to give the Yankees the first lead of the game and the win!

Hughes had a good start, 3 earned runs is a good start in my book, the line up should be able to win with only 3 scored against. He pitched 5 innings, gave 3 runs on 6 hits, 4 walks with only 2 strike outs. All right, so maybe it wasn't as strong as I thought.

Gardner 3-3 with 1 RBI and scoreing 2 runs. I think it is safe to say he got the Yankees back in this. Hitting an inside the park home run is something that gets everyone excited, and being in Yankee Stadium, I am sure everyone was on their feet in the ninth inning to help Cabrera after that triple and single. Teixeira was 2-4 with an RBI, Gardner in the ninth, and scored a run in the ninth as well. Rodriguez got up 5 times, struck out once, and was walked 4 times. I wonder how many times he has been walked now since hes been back..? Melky Cabrera, with the game winning single, 2-5 with 2 RBIs.

Game 36, Gainst the Blue Jays

Sabathia tries to out due his complete game. Pitches against Tallet for the 1st place Blue Jays.

The Yankees get 1 in the first after a Damon double and a walk to Teixeira, Matsui, and Swisher. So the RBI goes to Swisher. The Blue Jays get 1 in the forth and fifth to make it 1-2.

Gardner walks and scores after a Cervelli single and a Jeter single. Matsui gets the final run in the eighth with a home run. 3-2 final score.

Jeter 1-5, Damon 1-5, Teixeira 1-4, Alex Rodriquez 0-5, Matsui 1-3, Swisher 0-2, Cano 1-4, Gardner 0-2 and Ninth on the line up, Francisco Cervelli 2-4. The best of the game is ninth in the line up. I am amazed the Yankees won today. 1 had a good game. Close one I guess.

Sabathia went 8 innings, gave up 5 hits, 2 runs, and 4 walks with 5 strike outs. He had a very strong outing and it was just strong enough. Rivera gets save number 7 for the season. Sweet.

The Loss in the Tags is for my count. Today was a win.

Game 32, 33, Off day, Game 34, and 35

So this past weekend I was busy moving out and movie back into my house. I did not have anytime to get on my computer, and even if I did have time I couldn't because my computer was packed. Anyways, so I missed a lose, a win and another lose. So they are playing the Blue Jays now, the first place Blue Jays. Lets see how it goes.

After giving up 1 run in the first, the Yankees have a huge inning. Cabrera started it off with a double and scored with a Gardner home run. Then Pena triples (playing shortstop for Jeter) and scores off a Damon triple. Teixeira scores Damon with a double. Good inning. In the forth Damon scores after hitting a double, advanced on Swishers ground out, then scores on Teixeiras sacrifice fly. In the fifth, after giving up a run in the bottom of the forth, Cano doubles and scores on a Gardner triple. Then Gardner scores on a Cervelli single. 8-2.

And that is how it ends.

Pettitte pitched 6 all right innings. He walked 4, gave up 5 hits, 2 runs (only 1 earned), and had only 2 strike outs. Teixeira had a good game going 2-4 with a double, a single and 2 RBIs. Gardner also had a good game, going 2-3 with a home run, his first triple, and 3 RBIs.

Game 31, at Baltimore, A-Rod Back!

With one swing of the bat Alex Rodriguez is back in the MLB. First pitch of his first game back, with 2 on, Alex hit a 3 run homer. I feel like the Yankees are back. Anyways, the game slows down after that and the next run from either team isn't scored until Damons double to score Cervelli, catcher for Molina, in the seventh. 4-0

CC Sabathia pitches an entire game giving up only 4 hits, 1 walk with 0 earned runs. Wow, great game for him. He only had 7 strike outs for nine innings and 3 of them were to get the final 3 outs. The Yankees line up has awaken a little bit. Cano was 2-4, Swisher got a hit and a walk. Jeter went 0-5 with a walk, Teixeira went 0-3 with a walk and 3 strike outs. So a little woken up. shifting from team mate to team mate. 4-0 final.

Game 30, at Home, Gainst the Rays

And again a team gets runs in the first. Pettitte allows 2 home runs in the first inning then a 2 run home run in the third to give the Rays a 4-0 lead. The Yankees get 3 back in the 4 with a Molina double and a Damon double. And with how these last three games have been it can probably be said that they will not score anymore. Why can they only hit in one inning and have to catch up? We'll see what happens.

Matsui ties it up in the fifth with a home run but the Rays get it right back with a two out home run. Then in the seventh, with 2 outs, a Rays single, walk, and another single results to another run. 6-4, I wish the Yankees could score with 2 outs. With Jeter on base Damon hits a home run to tie it up 6-6 in the eighth. Sounds kind of familiar. Now all we need is to get to the tenth, leave a man on third and loss.

Won't even get that far. Rivera allows 2 home runs in the ninth and the Yankees offense falls flat. Another lose at New Yankee Stadium. Were is the hitting? Teixeira, 0-5, Cano, 0-5, Swisher, 0-4. I am certainly embarrassed to see my team, my obsession, play in such a manner. Starters can't get out of the first inning unharmed, Relievers giving up more runs than starters, Closer blowing saves, Hitters not doing anything. Wow, well I cannot defend the Yankees when I debate anymore. Not the way they're playing at home, in the division, in the MLB. Embarrassing. Losing record at home now, Losing record on the road. 13-15 overall. Despicable.

Game 29, at home, Gainst the Rays

Well Burnette has a good game, allowing only 3 runs on 6 hits with 2 walks and 8 strikeouts. The line up didn't wake up until the eighth and scored 3 runs on a Teixeira double. Good hit for him. The Yankees couldn't hold the tie though and Coke lost it with a home run hit off him in the tenth. Final 4-3. Coke is awarded the L.

Jeter was 0-5, Swisher was 0-3, Cabrera was 0-3. What the heck is going on? Were did all the hitting go? It's like they do great loss to the Red Sox and can't hit anymore. I am a little fed up with hearing all the "true" 2004 Red Sox fans talk about a 0-5 series. Sweet. WIN SOME!!

Tuesday, May 5, 2009

Game 28, at Home, gainst the Red Sox.

Well it is a rough start for Joba. 5 straight hits, 4 earned runs. After that, though, he gets down to business and enjoys 12 strike outs in 5.2 innings. The Yankees get 3 in the third to try and catch up off a Damon 3 run homer. In the eighth an intent walk to Drew, who already struck out twice, may have lead to 2 runs being scored. I was really confused that they did that. Oh well. 5-3.

In the ninth, Melancon walks the bases loaded with no outs. Robertson does a great job, getting 2 outs but can't hold off a walk. And thats how it ends. 7-3. 0-5 against the Red Sox so far. Doing really good. I just hope the Yankees beat can win 3 in the play offs against them. We shall see.

Joba had a rough start but cleaned up with 12 Ks before being taken out. I thought it was a bit early to take him out, because the 2 outs in the inning were strike outs. Weird.

Bullpen probably won't be an option, having 6 pitchers after the starter. Damon had a good game 2-4 with the 3 RBIs of the game. Cano and Swisher in a 2 game slump. How convenient. Cabrera was 3-4.

Burnett pitching tomorrow against the Rays at home. Come on win!! Please oh please! 7:05.

Monday, May 4, 2009

game 27, at Home, gainst the Red Sox.

Hughes could be looking better. In the first, 2 walks, 1 unearned run on a wild pitch. Great. Yankees line up better be awake. Sweet. Doesn't look like it against. 3 strike outs doesn't show that you're awake. Gonna be a long game.

A Lowell home run makes it 2-0. Then a run in the third, then a run in the forth. 4-0.

Damon and Teixeira come through tonight, hitting home runs in the fifth to cut the lead to a forth. Come on keep it going Teixeira..Aprils over. Well just when i thought it was getting good the Red Sox score 2 more. 6-3.

Teixeira hits another home run off the first pitch in the eighth to make it 6-4. And thats how it ends. I must say though. The home plate ump really messed up. Whatever though, congrats Red Sox. Got another one. When the Yankees go 0-18 in the season and 3-0 in the playoffs itll be fine.

I am still confused as to why they took out Posasa for Matsui. 2-2 with a walk for a strikeout. Sweet.

Sunday, May 3, 2009

game 26, at Home, gainst the Angels. Rained out.

Must have been some storm, rained out New York, Washington, and Philadelphia. No date for a make up game yet. Red Sox lost, which means the Rays won. Toledo won, where did they come from.

Selena Roberts book (if you can call it that), "A-Rod: the Many Lives of Alex Rodriquez " comes out tomorrow. Sweet, can't wait to see how that goes.

Phil Hughes to take on the Red Sox tomorrow at 7:05. On ESPN. Please don't embarrass yourselves Yankees. Come on, you've been doing so well this past weekend.

Saturday, May 2, 2009

Game 25, at Home, Gainst the Angels, The Game

CC Sabathia pitches today against the Angels, against Matt Palmer. 4.95 vs 5.68.

Sabathia has a very strong first inning, striking out 2. After Jeter is hit by a pitch and Teixeira is walked, Matsui hits a single to score Jeter. The second inning is not as strong as the first for Sabathia. After a walk he gives up 2 singles but no runs. He got out of the inning with the bases loaded. Sweet.

In the sixth inning, after a Jeter throwing error, 1 Angel run scores to tie up the game. It is unearned, but the damage is done. The Angels score 4 more in the seventh, 1 in the eighth, and 2 in the ninth. The Yankees score 3 in the ninth with a Posada 2 run homer and Jeter reaching on an error. But the damage is to much. The Yankees fall 8-4.

Sabathia had a good start but it all fell apart in the seventh. He let in 4 earned runs off of 8 hiits with 1 walk and 5 strike outs. Trouble with the line up. Only 4 hits, Teixeira 0-4, Damon 0-5, Cano 0-4. Oh jeepers. Posada's the only Yankee who looked good with a 2 run homer in the ninth, his only hit. Get it together for tomorrow and Monday and Tuesday against the Rer Sox.

CC, A-Rod, and Swisher stuff

CC pitches tonight against the Angels. He comes in tonight with a 1-2 record and a 4.73 ERA. "I need to make them put it in play, make them earn it, instead of giving it to them," Sabathia said. "It's a lot easier to live with it when you get beat, and they were hitting the balls and having good at-bats, as opposed to putting them on and struggling. I'm just trying to be too fine and make the perfect pitch." Well I don't know about you but that seems pretty accurate to what he has been doing. CC has always had the right attitude, he just needs his right pitches and to feel comfortable.

Wow didn't know I could do that ^. Well there you have it. Make your own conclusions about his slow starts.

"The search for proper bullpen help continued for Yankees manager Joe Girardi on Friday night, when, lacking any more trustworthy alternatives, he called on rookie Mark Melancon to hold a lead in the sixth inning. One pitch later, the Bombers no longer held a lead."

This was when I was like, "Who is this guy? I don't think bringing in someone new with the bases loaded is such a good idea. (triple) ah crap." Anyways, the article I got this from was saying that the bull pen needs a break and CC is supposed to help tonight. And by help I mean not need to use them.

So A-Rod is feeling better, but he isn't hitting as good as I had hoped. Ya I know he just had surgery, but 1-6 in a game, only hit a home run, and 0-3 in another. Come on, feel the pitches A-Rod. Hope you can help the Yankees out after all.

I was right! They don't give you much information on those MLB.com gameday things but when I saw Swisher got hit and he needed a delay of game, I knew it was trouble. He left before the third inning after getting hit in the elbow in the first inning. The article says he will be back soon.

Game 24, at Home, Gainst the Angels, the game

Pettitte vs Weaver. 2-1 vs 2-1. 2.96 vs 2.45. Sweet, lets have a good game Pettitte.

The Yankees get started early, taking advantage of 2 walks given to Jeter and Damon. Jeter scores on a Matsui fly, Damon scores on Cano single and Cano and Posada score on a Posada home run. 0-4.

The Angels get their damage done in the sixth, scoring six. 5 earned runs for Pettitte and one for Mark Melancon. I do not understand why managers take pitchers out after they load the bases. The first pitch Melancon threw turned out to be a triple.

In the first inning Nick Swisher was hit by a pitch and was taken out of the game in the third.

The Angels score 3 more in the seventh to give them a 9-4 lead. But the Yankees strike back with 4 in the eighth. After a Cano double and Posada walk Gardner singles to load the bases. Then Cabrera singles, scoring 1, Pena singles, scoring 2, and Jeter grounds out, scoreing 1 as well. 9-8.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, 0 out, Posada hits a single on a 3-2 count to score Teixeira and Berroa. YANKEES WIN. How exciting. Great show.

Pettitte had an all right outing. 5.2 innings with 5 earned runs, 4 walks and only 2 strikeouts. Ok so it wasn't the best, not by a long shot, but the line up made it work and came back for a W.

Cano went 3-5 scoring 2 runs with 1 RBI. Posada went 2-4 with 1 walk and 4 RBIs, including the 2 game winning RBIs. Pena went 3-4 with 2 RBIs. Sweet deal. Great job.

Game 23, at Home gainst the Angels, The game

UPDATED 10:30 Bottom of page

Burnett looking for his 3rd win.

The Angels hit in the first run in the first but the Yankees quickly answer back with a Matsui single to drive in Teixeira. The Angels score 2 more in the second. Johnny Damon hits a home run in the third. 3-2. Derek Jeter singles to score Swisher and Pena in the forth. 3-4. Angels tie it up in the fifth.

In the eighth after a single by Cano, a ground rule double by Posada, and an intentional walk to Swisher, Cabrera hits a single to score Cano. With the bases still loaded Pena doubles and scores Posada and Swisher. 4-7.

Rivera came in in the ninth. This is how the game should have been ended last night, instead of bring in Albaladejo. Rivera pitched 14 pitches, 10 for strikes. He had 1 hit and 2 strikeouts.

Burnett started today, not as strong as many of his other starts, but enough to get it done. He allowed 4 runs with 8 hits, strike outs and 1 walk in 7 innings.

Pena went 2-4 with a double and 2 RBIs. Swisher went 1-2 with 2 walks and scored twice. All the Yankees had at least 1 hit.

Next game is tomorrow at 7:05 against the Angels.

UPDATE: Red Sox lost 13-0 in Tampa Bay tonight. The only hit for the Red Sox was Ellsbury in the seventh. In the eighth inning the Red Sox took out Lopes(P) and put in Van Every(RF) to pitch. Sound familiar? Good job Red Sox.

A-Rod Book..and nothing else, the whole A-Rod situation

So there is this book that is coming out soon that claims that Alex took steroids after and before he claims. While the Yankees were down in Tampa I was up in Indiana. It was a Sunday morning, I remember because I was in no hurry to get up. Anyways, I turned on ESPN to listen to them talk about Yankees Stadium or Yankee tickets or whatever they could crop up in the off season because they always have something to talk about that deals with the Yankees. What I saw still haunts me whenever I turn on ESPN. Alex Rodriguez, admits steroid use! What?! He had admitted it while the team was in spring training and, well, I don't really know the exact reason he admitted it.

Well that admittance has really come back to bite him. I mean ya it's great he came out with it, doesn't have to live a lie anymore, can relax a bit without something like that on his chest. But this book that is coming out claims he did use steroids, but he is still lying. Now it could just be the article I read but the writer seems to me like this Selena Roberts is just getting into his life when she shouldn't be. This is kind of why I hate reporters. Sometimes they get ahead of themselves and get into things they shouldn't. I just read an article about how she confronted Alex earlier this year about the initial steroid use.

(This is after she flew from NY to Miami) "In any event, she drove on in, drove by A-Rod’s house, and it didn’t look, from the outside, that anyone was home. No dice. Off to Plan B. She had heard about his morning workout routines at the University of Miami gym. So she went there and identified herself to the guy at the front desk. He told her Mr. Rodriguez was working out in the back."

"A Rod wasn’t cooperating with the book, but he knew her going back to her Times days. She knew he would recognize her immediately. He had just finished lifting some weights, and he was doing some stretching, with a friend and a trainer. The music was loud. How possible would it be to speak to him without anyone overhearing? But when he saw her out of the corner of his eye, he wasn’t happy. Ms. Roberts presented the facts to him. Big story. Several sources. She heard he tested positive for steroids in 2003. Care to comment? “You’ll have to talk to the union,” he said."

Creepy, I mean, I would not want anyone driving to my house, driving around town to find me to confront me about my life. Sorry but seems to me like some people need lives outside of A-Rods life. And here she is, publishing a book, that A-Rods story is still wrong. It doesn't matter if she is wrong and will have to retract it, it's like acquiting a criminal. It doesn't matter that he was found innocent, the damage is down, he was suspected.

In my opinion, he was caught, all right so why lie further. I don't understand because if I was caught I'd like to get it all out so nothing comes back, so this is either her being not cool and just getting her name on things or he messed up. Lets see how it goes, poor A-Rod no matter how it is settled.

Media Sucks.

Game 22, at Detroit, the Game

Joba pitches tonight.

The Tigers get a little lead in the third, but the Yankees get it back, with style. In the forth score 7 with a Swisher 3 run homerun, a Damon RBI double, and a Matsui 3 RBI double. Then in the fifth Swisher gets another homerun as an insurance run, again.

Fire confusion in Detroit tonight. The fire alarm has gone off in the Tigers ballpark in the eighth inning. Wow that was interesting, people started leaving the field and the players started to get off the field.

Well I was surprised with Girardi's decision to have Jonathan Albaladejo stay in after throwing 8 balls and 2 strikes, 1 as a hit for a double. Finally taken out after 3 hits, 2 earned runs and only 24 pitches, 11 for strikes. Wow, Rivera comes in with 1 out remaining. And a three run home run. All right, just one more out, come on.

Anyways, Joba pitched for 7 innings with only 3 hits and allowing 1 run with 3 walks and 6 strike outs. Damon went 2-4 with an RBI and as a run, Matsui went 1-2 but made it count with a 3 RBI double. Swisher went 2-5, both hits as home runs with 4 RBIs. Boy did they need them, Tigers almost caught back up. Interesting.

Next game tomorrow at home against the LA Angels. Burnett goes for another win at home at 7:05.

Game 22, at Detroit, Joba goes for first decided, NY trip soon?

Joba Chamberlain takes on Rick Porcello. An undecided to a 1-2. After the Yankees most powerful inning of the season, Joba takes over for game 3 of this 1-1 series. Lets go Joba get a decided game, and by decided game I mean Win. Game starts at 7:05 tonight, ESPN.

Wow, taking a look at the new ticket plans for New Yankee Stadium, I might head out to NY this year. Many prices cut, season ticket holder getting twice as many seats. No joke the economy is effecting everyone and everything. Many tickets were cut down 40%. The only reason why they are talking about this on ESPN is, come on, they're the Yankees. Anyone else and chances are it'd be lost in that teams news archives. Oh well, everyone's got to have their piece of the best I guess.

Hughes, so Hughes might take Joba's starter spot and move Joba back to the eighth inning reliever spot. Fine with me, I'm predicting Joba will be the closer after Rivera.

In other news, Red Sox snap streak with a Pitching error. Sweet, Jacoby Ellsbury, Red Sox Hero, 1-5 with a strike out. David Ortiz, 1-4, still homerunless.

Game 21, at Detroit, Hughes, Who's Hurt, and Rivera

Phil Hughes came from the minors to help out the Yankees starters tonight, and boy he made it interesting. Real pitchers battle tonight in Detroit with only 4 Yankee hits and 2 Tiger hits in the first six innings.

In the seventh the Yankees break it wide open, with a Posada double error, Swisher and Cabrera score. Then Johnny Damon singles to score Berroa, running for Posada. Then Matsui singles to score Jeter, Cano singles to score Damon, Swisher's second at bat in the inning walks to load the bases up. With a Cabrera walk, Matsui scores. With bases loaded Molina hits a grand slam! 10-0.

And as if it wasn't enough, Swisher homers in the ninth. Insurance run i guess.

Phil Hughes you came out of no where tonight, and boy did the Yankees need it. 6.0 innings, only 2 hits! 2 walks and 6 strike outs.

Swisher, great game! 2-3, 2 walks, home run, Cabrera, also 2-3 also 2 walks, and an RBI. Molina, 1 hit but you made it count, 4 RBIs!

Today I noticed in the Yankees news that pretty much every other headline was that someone was hurt. Damon with "aches", Posada with hamstring issues, Rodriguez and Wang with their hips, yikes, they are getting old. So Damon missed a couple, Posada misses tonight, Rodriguez is still out until mid May, and Wang placed on 15 day DL.

Anyways, Rivera has 486 saves. Wow I had no idea he was so close to 500. Well good for him, I'll be keeping track of that.

Game 20, at Detroit

All right, coming off a bad weekend the week doesn't look much better. With a loss today the Yankees fall back under .500, sweet. They are looking good. 9-10 after their pathetic display today. Not scoring until the ninth with 10 strike outs and many players going 1-4. Sweet, despite the teams drought, Cano went 2-4 with a double today and scored one of the 2 runs. Good for him, he was my favorite player even during his under preformance last year and it's paying off now.

Sabathia had 7 strike outs with only 4 earned runs off of 6 hits and 0 walks. Great pitching, this is one of the games where it wasn't pitching that lost the game. The line up didn't wake up until the top of the ninth and by that time it was too late. Lets hope to win both the next 2 in Detroit and get back over .500. I am getting sick of all these Red Sox fans here. They finally have something to be happy about this season.

Game 19, at Fenway, avoid the sweep

Losing 2 already at Fenway, the Yankees play tonight to avoid the sweep. Having been tied with the Red Sox at 9-6 2 games ago, I would hate to see them be back at .500. Overall the games have been really close, no blowouts. I went through and counted all the Yankee and Red Sox games. The Yankees play six in Fenway and two at home against the Red Sox before the All Star break, then three at Fenway and seven at home after the All Star break. Lets just hope they wake up against the Red Sox after the break.

Yankees score first in the third off a sacrifice fly by Gardner. But the Red Sox get it right back with a sacrifice fly by Ortiz. Red Sox get 3 more in the fifth. 1-4. With the bases loaded in the eight and no out I though Varitek was going to hit another. Whoa boy, Melancon, you got out of a tough situation. But a sweep never looks good. Just wait till your in NY and Rodriguez is back. Back to the best hitting infield.

Teixeira and Swisher went 0-4. Power hitters were shut down tonight, good with 3 strike outs between them. Berroa, Rodriguez's replacement, went 0-3, just as good as Ransom. Mastui, Cano, and Cabrera went 2-4 with 0 RBIs.

Yankees play Detroit Tigers the next 3 game series. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 7:05. All right, lets win some.

In other news, the Rangers get to a 7th game, once leading the series 3-1. Typical.

Game 18, at Fenway

Today is game 2 of the 3 game series. Burnett vs. Beckett.

Yankees get off to an early lead in the first scoring 2 off Swisher single and Posada single. Then the Yankees score 2 more in the third off a Cano home run with Teixeira on base. 4-0. In the forth the Yankees score 2 more again off a Cano double with Jeter and Teixeira on base. 6-0

Red Sox didn't score till the forth and they made it count, scoring 5. All right 6-5, could be worse. In the fifth the Red Sox score 3 more to make it 6-8.

Damon ties it up in the sixth with a home run with Jeter on. 8-8. In the bottom of the sixth the Red Sox get another to make it 8-9. Then in the seventh the Yankees score 2 more on a error for a Damon hit to make it 10-9 but they get them back in the bottom for a 10-12 score.

Cano hit another home run in the eighth to make it 11-12. Red Sox get 4. And that's how it ends, ladies and gentlemen, 11-16.

Burnett was great in 3, lost it all in the forth. Pitching all together was not very good, for either team. 27 runs in a game is not good pitching at all.

Jeter went 2-4 with 2 walks. Teixeira was walked 5 times, good on base percentage. Cano went 3-6 with 2 home runs and 5 RBIs. Posada went 2-4 with a walk and an RBI.

Garnder went 1-5 and struck out. Come on Rodriguez, get better faster!

Game 17, at Fenway

Well there they are. At Fenway. To put into action the biggest rivalry in MLB history. Yankees and Red Sox. Lets watch.

The Red Sox score first in the first off of a past pitch. Long game it'll be. Yankees score 2 in the forth off a Ransom double a Jeter ground out. Red Sox get 1 back in the sixth but the Yankees score 2 more in the seventh Teixeira single and Cano sacrifice fly. It all looked good, at 4-2 until the ninth.

Oh Rivera, your first blown save could not have come against a worst team. Oh well. You're still my favorite pitchers. He gave up 2 in the ninth off 2 run home run to Bay. It's early. Get it back tomorrow.

Chamberlain started off good, allowing only 2 off 9 hits but with 4 walks and only 2 strike outs. No Yankee did especially well except Molina who went 2-3 with 2 walks. It's a game like tonight that I wish Rodriguez was back. Ya Ransom, you had a double and scored a run, but that was it with a strike out. The Yankees need his power back.

Weekend Series at Fenway..Yay..part 2

So New Yankee Stadium home run hitting heaven? Nah, majority of the home runs were hit in that embarrassing Wang start. 8 in one game, almost a third of all. So, ya I think all this talk about the New Yankee Stadium being great for home runs, mostly just something to talk about to fill the void. Whatever, the average will go down with the season and this will all just blow over.

Other News, last night the Rangers get a third win over the number 2 Capitals. Great for them, a number 7 one game away from beating a number 2. Next game is tomorrow in Washington, shouldn't be too bad because they already won 2 there, outscoring the capitals 5-3, with a shutout in game 2. Come on just 1 more.

Other Other News, Red Bulls take on Kansas City Wizards in KC on ESPN2.
